It is delicious. Another tasty dish is white bait. It is crispy and not greasy. The restaurant is a little pricey but, well worth the money for a good solid meal!
Place is vibrant and noisy but food is fabulous, nothing fancy but very good honest food, with extremely generous helpings. I have been there many times but on the last visit the BBQ octopus and prawns were exceptionally good.
I used to go to the Balkan in the past and always enjoyed the service and the food. This time it was a great disappointment. Entering the restaurant my guest and I were met with such a great noise. The live music was so loud , so I wanted to leave immediately . The waitress convinced me, however, to go upstairs, where it would be quieter. Well, it was a bit better , but not much. My friend ordered grilled prawns and I had a seafood platter for one. The accompanying cabbage salad was good, but the seafood was not very good. Was the fish really fresh? The rest of the platter was octopus. The grilled prawns were grilled too long and became very chewy . I don't think I will come back , rather stay with good memories of the past !
Had dinner after movie at Verona Cinema last night. Decor very simple. Both Salmon and Snapper beautiful. Croatian mixed salad so good that my wife took a an extra serving home. The enjoyment of a good meal somewhat diminished by it being overpriced. Left $90. Equivalent in other good seafood restaurants more like $70.
Traditional home cooked food, just as good as mama's. Quick lunch of cevapcici, potato and cabbage salad washed down with Karlovacko pivo - Croatian beer. Palacinke - crapes with walnuts and coffee to finish was just what we needed. First an hour and a bit I felt i was back on the Adriatic coast!
