Bidra med feedbackFitz and starts is such a cute little spot! The ambiance is great, the staff is friendly, and the food is to die for. Do not sleep on the bakery!!! Everything is so fresh. The OJ is fresh squeezed with tons of pulp (the way I like it, but non-pulp lovers beware!! My dirty chai was sadly over spiced. Overall a great breakfast spot. Sadly I think they are closing soon
Been a long time since we brunched at Hungry Pigeon, and we haven't checked it out since it rebranded itself. After reading all the raving reviews about Fitz and Starts, we decided to swing by and check it out. The annoying thing about most brunch places is that it's walk-ins only, but thankfully, we came on a less busy day, and were able to snag a seat almost immediately. The community table from before the rebranding is still there. I'm not a fan of sitting so close to strangers that they can hear my conversations, but this will have to do since all the other tables are occupied. As for the food, it was okay. I don't get the hype. Their baked goods are good though, I'll come back for those. Service was good too.
I have been wanting to try this place for a while and I still haven't made my mind up about my experience. We decided to elect for takeout, so I can't comment on service. When walking in, the vibe was very cute. It had a letter board writing out the daily specials and there were multiple trays of freshly baked goods. We tried the egg and cheese, croissant and breakfast burger. The egg and cheese was what I was most excited about, since I tend to rate places on how they cook a simple item like an egg. Unfortunately, the egg was not fried correctly and there was minimal cheese. The only flavor that was discernible was mustard. With these caveats aside, the homemade english muffin that it was on was DELICIOUS. The croissant was also flaky and wonderful and the burger was good. The next time I return, I will stick to more of the bakery items, but I think I'm curious enough to return again soon.
Food is phenomenal but it's very obvious when you eat here that there is a 20% grat already added. Service is among some of slowest and laziest in the city. I don't mind paying a 20% great off the bat but maybe shape up your servers AND management. It always seems like a disorganized mess here.
Excellent food, excellent ingredients, excellent quality, but very small and super overpriced. Beware the prices on the menu are actually 20% more expensive. There's obvious dine-in gratuity, but the owner forces this 20% service charge on takeout (pickup) and online orders as well. Despite the great quality, it's not good value for money.Just pay your people more from your own high prices and stop foisting the burden of gratuity on non dine-in customers. 20% service charge on pickup/takeout where staff does far less work is a poor reflection on ownership. Love the food, but won't be eating here anymore unless we are sitting at a table.
