Bidra med feedbackTselogs is a Filipino classic! They have been open since 2008 and have been serving consistent delicious Filipino food ever since! I always get a combo silog because I can't just PICK one meat! My go to is their Tocino and sisig, but their tapa, Bangus, and pares are yummy as well! I also get their lumpia because it's hard not to hehe! I always bring my friends here when they tell me they haven't tried Filipino food before and they always come back wanting more : ALSO the service is amazing, 10/10 hospitality.
3.5 stars rounded up Filipino home cooks Filipino restaurants put their individual spin on our national dishes. There are a few common threads fried food, tropical fruits, big, bold flavors but tiny variations make all the difference. My family has mixed feelings about Tselogs take on the various silog (breakfast of meat, fried garlic rice, egg , soups, desserts we ordered; I thought what I tried was mostly good, even if they differed from what I'm used to. We ordered: arroz caldo: nice garlic ginger flavors. I like a brothier rice porridge; Tselog's style is thick gloopy. chicken mami soup lacked flavor. lumpia shanghai: ground pork egg roll with sweet chili sauce: amazing! 5 stars! Crispy outside, moist inside, so flavorful. bangsilog: you only get half of a bangus (milkfish but the half we got was meaty. tocilog: tocino, sweet fried pork, were tough chunks rather than thinly sliced tender pieces. Not sweet enough. tapsilog: the menu specifies that their tapa, sliced pieces of beef, is made sweet, whereas traditionally, I know it as being marinated in soy sauce. The fam was surprised that Tselog's version is tender because we usually have or make tapa firm satisfyingly tough, similar to jerky. slices of all four of their pies: buko (young coconut , egg pie, ube macapuno (purple yam coconut , maja blanca (sweet coconut pudding with corn kernels. It's unique to turn these filipino desserts into pie but I thought it needlessly added calories, especially considering the crust isn't exceptional. I enjoyed the filling, but I'll stick to them in their natural crust less form. Different can be good. But probably not according to the family members I shared my food with!
This experience was pure enjoyment! The service was quick and inviting. One of the owners greets and interacts with the clientele. Nice jazzy music playing in the background, so soothing when eating your meal whether on a lunch break or another time of day. The vibe of decor totally cultural and cozy. The food was delicious, owner checked on me how things were going, very personable they provide classes for entrepreneurs to learn leadership and mentoring. Total well rounded establishment with a purpose!
Parking can be hard to find but it is right across from Walgreens so you can park in its lot and walk over. Inside is spacious and tables are placed with a considerable distance. Bathroom is clean and tidy. Service is friendly and fast. Dishes are served with garlic rice, an egg, and a protein of choice. Bangsilog- Salty. Garlic rice didn't have much flavor of the garlic, too dry, and the egg was undercooked. Noksilog tocilog- Same complaint about the garlic rice egg. Noksilog was cooked well and crispy, as well as tocilog. Palabok- Underwhelming. Kind of blend. Too saucy. Tiny shrimps.
Food is very good and their Ube pie is delicious!Negative service is bad, not sure if we just happen to come in at a bad time but the cashier girl was not attentive. When she collected our plates, she inadvertently took the fork I was obviously still using but promised to get another one for me. Never came back to do so. She also seem to rush us to leave, despite the restaurant not closing for another hour. Also, when she asked if there was anything else we wanted (additional pie specifically), I asked for an extra order of their longanisa to go. She did say she would ring me up at the front, but I didn’t realize she was going to completely forget or neglect to put in my order.Yes, you do have to order at the front, but then why bother to ask us if we needed anything else then completely forget to place our order? I think we just didn’t vibe and that’s ok, but I do have to take away one star for the bad service because I really did want an extra order to go. But still would recommend to eat it here and definitely willing to give another try!
