Osteria D' Assisi - Cuyamungue

I had not been here in a few years as I remember it just being okay and not enough to brag about. Went back again and just sat near bar. Had drinks and a pizza instead of the full table service type of meal. Bartender was warm and nice, drinks were great and the pizza was great. Even though we were being pretty casual (and cheap compared to many full dinners), we were treated well and enjoyed the experience so it goes back higher into the rotation of options here in Santa Fe for good italian.

We had a wonderful dinner and wine on the patio. The owner met us at the door. The staff were friendly and made great suggestions. The food and wine were perfect. I highly recommend Osteria D'Assisi.

We walked in the restaurant hoping for some good pizza. We left with our hopes unfulfilled. From the begining, we didn't feel welcomed or comfortable. We were asked where we are from, and once the waiter found out, we sensed a shift in the service level. The pizza was chewy, the lasagna was plain. The staff was cleaning and turning lights off around us and we felt rushed to leave. Overall, we would not come back.

Our anniversary dinner and we had a wonderful meal. As always the calamari was extraordinary. I had the lasagna and my wife had one of the night's specials and thought it was wonderful. Our server was very nice and attentive.

After being seated at 7:30, food finally arrived at 9pm. Reason given was large party of 30 which blocked up the kitchen. Fair enough, but then you need to tell me that food will take an hour to arrive, not just promising it soon.
