Borgo Della Sverginesca - CREVALCORE

We dined here during a three day stop in Crevalcore, our Airbnb host recommended it. It's not open until 8pm, but worth the wait. The restaurant itself is nice, linen tablecloths, low lighting. There was a major issue with flies inside on this particular night unfortunately. Our Italian is limited and the owners English about the same but with the help of other diners we managed to order filet with peppercorn sauce, potatoes and spinach as our contorni. We weren't asked how we would like our steak so we just hoped it would be medium rare, it was cooked to perfection. The peppercorns were crunchy and the sauce had a hint of mustard in it, gorgeous. The sides were also good, the spinach was creamy and the potatoes crisp. We ordered a bottle of red wine and as we were leaving we were offered a complimentary grappa! We definitely recommend this restaurant. Some reviewers have said the owner appeared rude, we didn't find this at all, I think he was humoured at having two Australians in his restaurant!

Great first dishes, seconds of tender and delicious meat, I would definitely return to enjoy other menu specialties. high quality wines. friendliness and hospitality of the owner, he black, I redhead but with sympathy, kindness and respect you go on anyway!
