Casa Denis - COZUMEL

They have an extensive menu, but everything we wanted, they obviously didn't. They only had the more expensive items. Hmm. Then the waiter agreed that they could make the enchilada suizas and the Papazudules, but neither court was exactly that. We ate it and paid for it, but what a fraud.

We stopped here about 2:00 on Saturday and were one of the only ones in Casa Denis. We ordered the Mexican plate (which has about 7 different items on it and is highly recommended) and the Poc chuc (a tasty pig) which were both excellent. The problem was after we had our food, the waiter/manager (he seemed to do all the person), was more attentive to things other than us (even if there was not hardly anyone else). Overall we were glad that we came because the food was authentic, delicious, and cheap.

We came last year from the recommendation of a cab driver. I literally daydreamed about it until we could return again this year! The Mexican plate for two (which would feed 3-4 easily) is simply the best I have ever had. We are foodies and have traveled extensively around Mexico and this beats all. A true sampling of the area made with love. We plan to eat here multiple times on our visit. We couldn’t recommend more highly!

The food at this place was nice, and all for a reasonable price. However, the atmosphere changed during payment. Another customer was already treated very rude when he wanted to give a 10% tip; the waiter didnt accept it because it was 'too low ' and gave it back. For us, the waiter suggested almost 25% tip ! , and was irritated when we didn 't want to give him that. Although the food was tasty, the aftertaste of our visit was not.

My husband was in a nearby hospital while we lived in Cozumel and he was really tired of the hospital food, so I came here one night. I ordered lime soup for me that came with salsa and chips that I ate while preparing his exhaust meal that was the grilled shrimp, vegetables and rice. Total price for his meal and my soup and a soda was $20 with lace. His hospital was only about 3 blocks away so that she was still warm when I came back. He liked it very much.
