Bidra med feedbackWe almost missed this gem because it didn't show up in my Google searches for best breakfasts in Cozumel. We only happened upon it when the place across the street seemed too busy. We walked over and the lady showed us the menu. It had very original looking mexican breakfast items (but also very appealing American items). We wanted Mexican. We were served by one of the owners, it was clear this is a family establishment. She spoke to us about our trip and about Cozumel. Her English was quite good. We had a great conversation. We felt at home. Then the food came...holy!!!!! This was the tastiest meal of our trip! We were both on cloud nine. Our plates filed with a wonderfully mild version of salsa but not anything that was like what would go on chips. A large tostata or chip was on the bottom of my eggs with refried beans underneath. This was clearly set up by first class chefs that knew about various textures and colours on a plate, as well as different powerful flavours. The peas and bacon hash added this perfect touch of flavour and salty. Wherever you are on the island, make a trip here. When we first sat down, a basket of toast and three homemade salsas came out. Basically jams, 2 had a slight beautiful kick, while the third was coffee/chocolate. We couldn't get enough. I asked her if they were for sale because this is that perfect souvenir gift to bring home. Something you stumbled across, but totally unique and made there. Sadly, she had no more lids!!! Nooooo! I was a bit obsessed though and discovered they have a website so I plan to contact them to see if maybe they can mail me some if I buy online. What a special place this is. Don't go anywhere else, most are overpriced catering to the cruise clientele. This place is deeper in, and mostly for locals so it's cheap. $240 pesos for both of us including a smoothie.
We went back two days in a row. Wish we would have found this restaurant earlier in our trip. The Amparos breakfast platter was amazing. Loved the complementary toast and homemade jams. The owner and waitress were so friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back again soon!
Went to Amparos with my Mom and unfortunately was disappointed. Overall everything was 'fine' but not what we typically get from the amazing and fresh Cozumel meals. They were very busy, which we did not mind, as we were there during peak hours. We were sat at a dirty table, which we didn't care. It was surprising it took 20+ minutes to be cleaned. They had taken our drink and food order before it was cleaned. Every table was given a full basket of pan dulce and three what looked like jams to go with it. We were given a basket with three of the exact same pieces of pan dulce and no jams which is why I can only guess at the contents. The Heart healthy smoothie I had was delicious but it took a while to get any drinks. As in I watched my water and my Moms orange juice sit on the to be served bar for more than 5 minutes. We were sitting less than 2 feet from the bar. 2 other parties came in around the same time as us and both of them got pan dulce, drinks, clean tables, and food prior to us. I had biscuits and gravy and my mom had migas. We were surprised by the portions because there's typically enough on one plate to share everywhere else we go. I had a bite of her migas and in my opinion there are much more delicious ones back home in Texas. The eggs served with my biscuits and gravy as well as the hash browns were delicious. The biscuits themselves were actually English muffins and the sausage was Italian sausage. Just not at all what I was expecting to be the Mexican take on this dish. After the meal my Mom asked for more pan dulce and she was brought toast. Strike three for us. There are way too many other places to go for incredible knock your socks off food in Cozumel, even on Sunday.
Two different days for breakfast. A few breakfast items are good, but others and lunch items aren't!Good presentation but some items need more ingredients and better flavor. Turkey Melt was very little thinly-sliced Ham-Turkey with soft "cheese whiz" like cheese. It was a very small disappointing sandwich. Unlike the other juices that they serve in a good size large jars, my carrot juice came watered down in a thin tall glass with ice. Another breakfast item way too salty. With only one other small table in the restaurant at both times, food and drinks always took way too long to be served. Owner asked for feedback. He then apologized but offered no compensation. This place has potential, but not quite there yet!Too many great breakfast places on Cozumel to return to Amparos.
My family and I LOVE this place. We got into Cozumel around 1:00 pm and were starving. My mom had seen good reviews of this restaurant and recommend that we go here. I personally ordered the Healthy Heart smoothie and the Fruit Parfait. Both were amazing. We got to meet both owners and they are the sweetest people ever. We are definitely coming back.
