Bidra med feedbackI have a fondness for classic English pubs, and the Royal George is definitely one of them. The owners were friendly and hospitable. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices and the high quality of the food, as well as the attention to detail in cooking and presentation. We had a delightful lunch and had a great time. This place is a hidden treasure that we will definitely return to soon.
We were recommended to try out the restaurant's twice yearly seafood week by a friend, so as seafood lovers, we decided to give it a go. The interior of the pub was quirky and unconventional, but the food was simply amazing. We were served generous portions of fresh and delicious seafood, cooked to perfection. I started with an anchovy salad, followed by incredibly tasty crevettes in garlic butter. My husband opted for whitebait as a starter, and then enjoyed monkfish medallions in a coconut sauce. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, and we will definitely be returning. It is clear that the owners of this pub prioritize the quality of their food above all else, which is exactly what we appreciate.
The menu had excellent options and the food was delicious, particularly the fish. However, the lack of atmosphere was noticeable as we were the only diners and the service felt hurried in an effort to close once we left. It seemed like the restaurant had only opened because we had made a reservation.
Six of us having an early Christmas meal together. We all had different starters, but all of us have the fish for a main course. It was absolutely delicious.Thank you so much Annie and Tony
This pub says its dog friendly on Trip Advisor. it is not! I had booked a table for 4 for my my mums birthday dinner, and was about to ring to check if I could bring our old, blind and dear little border terrier. However on Trip Advisor it said the pub was dog friendly so decided I didn 't need to call, as all pubs I have been to in the past accept dogs 'into ' the pub if they say they are 'dog friendly '. We were turned away and said we could sit in the garden. It was a slightly chilly evening, and my mother is 80 and couldn 't cope with the chill. Luckily we found a wonderful dog friendly pub down the road in Hopton called The Vine which was very welcoming. Don 't bother bringing your dog unless you want to sit outside.
