Although the menu is limited, it all seems to be homemade and is very reasonably priced. The cafe is a nice place to sit and enjoy your meal, and there's an attractive terrace for warmer days. At peak times, the queues can be quite long and service seems a little slow, and when we visited a touch chaotic, but these are minor quibbles.
During our visit to the gardens, we decided to stop for lunch at this restaurant. The menu had a variety of hot meals that all seemed homemade and delicious. The chicken one pot was filled with fresh vegetables, the baked potato was soft and fluffy, and the egg mayo rolls were a generous portion. The ordering process was a bit confusing as the tills were in a cramped area causing customers to mingle instead of forming a proper queue. However, the service was quick and efficient, and we were overall impressed with our experience.
We enjoyed the special lunches-quiche x2 and steak pie x2 efficient service and very tasty- went back for fresh scones and cup of tea later.
A super eatery with freshly cooked food. Loved the macoroni cheese. Well worth a visit when exploring the beautiful Hidcote Gardens.
How can a National Trust cafe get this so very wrong. It was a disaster! No system appeared to be in place other than saying get a table, remember table number and come and order. People simply didn’t know what to do where was the board information to say what was on the menu? Customers were reliant and being told by others who had worked it out. Then 2 staff serving!! The queue was out the door. Crazy system of working. There was absolutely no flow, customers cannot see what’s on offer clearly, and it was so frustrating. Come on NT, you can and must do so much better than this.
