Bidra med feedbackI frequent this establishment often for business meetings and meals. I visited in August for a one-on-one business meeting and ended up spending a couple of hours enjoying coffee, brunch, and more coffee. The staff is extremely friendly, although not always attentive. However, the food is delicious and reasonably priced, and the coffee is excellent.
The restaurant has a nice view if you're by the windows. The service is okay, with friendly and cheerful staff. There is a small variety of cakes, and slightly more filling food options are available until 3pm. The cafe itself appears a bit worn, with scruffy floors, metal tables, and uncomfortable seating. It used to be a welcoming place with a wider selection of cakes and treats, but it doesn't seem the same anymore. The surrounding area looks like a rundown seaside resort, with untidy surroundings and little thought put into the layout of the different outlets. It's a shame that this place is no longer one of the local favorites.
The Gateway has undergone a remarkable transformation for the better. The food is consistently fresh and expertly prepared, especially the pizzas. The addition of the outdoor bar and Bedouin tent has been a welcome touch.
Ordered pancakes with bacon, maple syrup and blueberries. So much syrup that the bottom pancakes turned to mush instantly and was really disappointed they were for microwave packet pancakes. Little bit cheeky to be honest asking for that much money for something that...took very little effort bar the bacon. Mostly microwaved as food turned up before the coffees did. Husbands eggs benedict, again nearly very small. Asked for a refund on the pancakes. Would maybe go for coffee if passing but food no chance. Think they’re taking the p out of people. Waiting staff were LOVELY and super helpful and polite. They rescued this place
Hadn't intended to stop for more than a snack but the tempting menu offered so much choice that it was difficult to resist what I expected to be a slightly bigger snack. I had the Eggs Norwegian and it was really nice and lots of...it. Inevitably there was a bit of a wait because the café was very busy, but with the lovely views out across the lake, with the various water birds feeding, it didn't seem too long.
