Bidra med feedbackThe bf and I stumbled upon Parolli Rolli when we decided to check out the SoCo Farmers Market. This was my introduction to porchetta, and it is made to perfection!
Edited rating will update once I get to try the sandwiches ...!
UPDATE 2/21: Finally got to try the Porchetta. I 've had porchetta at several other places (Roli Roti in SF, Osteria Mozza in LA, Paninoteca Maggio in Santa Ana ... and this is good if not better than any of those in flavor and tenderness unfortunately my plate was cold. Not sure if that 's how it 's supposed to come. I waited about 12 15 mins for mine I assumed that it was because they needed to prepare a fresh off the rotisserie porchetta, so it was strange that it was basically cold. Taste: Very good, with a very good blend of herbs that don 't overpower the meat. Texture: Soft and tender loin meat, crispy skin just as it should be. Meat is juicy when you bite into it, and the fat is well rendered. Temperature: As above, cold. If it had been warm, it would have been phenomenal. I would love to try some right when it comes off the rotisserie. Presentation: Cleanly presented. I got the Paleo, which came served on a fresh bed of spinach and arugula and topped with their tangy green dressing. Final verdict based on food alone: 4 stars, would have been 5 if the meat were warm. UPDATE 2/1: Just got an email from Parolli rolli saying they had a family emergency .... So sorry to hear about that. I updated the review to 3 stars for now and will update it accordingly after eventually trying out the sandwiches for the first time, if I ever get a chance to. Hopefully they are 5 star sandwiches ORIGINAL POST: Said they 'd be back at soco today after not being here last week either ... Guess what NOT HERE again. No one answered the phone. No posting on their facebook page or anywhere. Parolli needs to be more organized if you 're a mobile food company with an inconsistent hours structure. This pertains to answering phone , posting a schedule or your whereabouts on social media, etc ....... otherwise business will begin to fail as you **** more customers off.
Porchetta, porchetta, porchetta!!! (pronounced por-ketta) At long last, a place in OC to satisfy my porchetta craving and I couldn't be happier! Like many, I was first introduced to the porchetta by Roli Roti in SF. After one bite into their succulent, mouthwatering, herb stuffed, roasted pork with crispy skin, I was hooked! It instantly became one of my all-time favorite sandiwches and Roli Roti became a must stop destination every time I went up north. For the longest time, I've prayed they would expand to OC, but now thanks to Parolli Rolli, there is no need! Parolli Rolli's version of the porchetta sandwich is just slightly different than Roli Roti's, but I would argue they are equally as delicious. The meat itself is very similar. Both are super flavorful and perfectly seasoned. I would have to do a side by side tastes to really be able to tell a difference. Both sandwiches also use fresh arugula and a ciabatta roll. I don't know where Parolli get's their bread from, but Roli use Acme rolls which is a well known bakery up there. The difference is negligible. The first real noticeable difference is that Parolli uses an herb relish versus grilled onions. Both are good. It's hard to say which is better, but I do like that Parolli gives you an extra container of the stuff in case you want your sandwich even more herby. Second, Parolli's version is bigger and they give you noticeably more meat. A fork will definitely be needed to pick up all the meat droppings. But this also comes at a heavier prices tag at $12 whereas Roli Roti is $9.50. The biggest difference in my opinion is the potatoes. Roli Roti charges you $3 for a decent sized portion of potatoes. However, I actually don't like Roli Roti's potatoes and avoid them! They are supposed to be flavored with the meat drippings, but I find them kind of bland and the only flavor is from the added salt. On the other hand, Parolli includes a small side of potatoes with every sandwich and their potatoes are so much more flavorful. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think it's because their potatoes are cooked in a pan with the meat drippings as opposed to being cooked separately and lettings the meat drippings fall directly on them afterward. I might be wrong about this, but regardless, Parolli's potatoes are better. Parolli also offers a prime top sirloin, herb roasted chicken, leg of lamb and turkey sandwiches. Any meats can be ordered paleo style (no bread, on a bed of arugula) or as a mini half-sandwich for $7. They also have a snack version which is just meat and potatoes for $7. They also have a breakfast benedict for $8 if you get there early enough. To sum up this crazy long review, Parolli Rolli is awesome and their porchetta is legit. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed.
Oh the Porchetta sandwich...juicy porky goodness taunts you once you get a whiff of the smells that are coming from this little booth at the end of the Farmer's market. It is torture waiting for your sandwich and watching the others being made before you. Slowly slicing and dicing the roll of pork and adding that magical piece of crisp skin on top is just...if you were hungry when you ordered, you will turn into a ravenous savage once your food is presented to you. The chopped pork itself is juicy but wait, they add their own secret sauce on top of that as well as arugula, you know to make you feel healthy. A little cup of that sauce on the side as well, and you will end up drinking and then cleaning up every last drop that is in that cup, mind you. Definitely enough for 2 people if you pace yourself, and this sandwich on its chewy bread (I'll try the multigrain next time) is a masterpiece for the tastebuds with textures and spices all coming together perfectly. Oh yeah, those potatoes. Damn good! Don't let the looks fool you, they are delicious! Dip into the sauce...yummy. $12 was well spent as it easily fed the 3 of us.
