Caffe Del Teatro - CORTONA

Situated in a picturesque spot, this café served good coffee and a good range of treats cakes, pastries, rolls, etc.

Located on a large terrace looking on to one of the main piazza in Cortona and part of Teatro Signorelli's building Caffe del Teatro is a family run restaurant with a lovely and friendly atmosphere . The food is freshly made and the ingredients used are seasonal. I enjoyed having an aperitivo on my own as I watched people go by before the whole family joined. I have been here many times for different occasions and always appreciated the food, service and location.

We were looking for a restaurant in the late afternoon and decided to go to Caffe del Teatro. My wife ordered spinach and ricotta ravioli with an orange sauce. She said it was excellent and after giving me a taste I absolutely agreed. I ordered Penne alla Nonna with sausage, cream, mushrooms and truffles. It was outstanding and the portions were generous. With a glass of Sangiovese Cortona for me and a glass of Pinot Grigio for my wife it made this meal one of the very best we had in Cortona as we watched the people strolling in Piazza Signorelli. The service was a little slow but there friendliness and helpfulness was excellent. We were in no rush and we enjoyed the ambiance. This restaurant in Cortona is underrated in my opinion. Although it was not a priority for selecting this restaurant the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant when you are in Cortona. I know you will not be disappointed.

I ate a Sunday lunch at this restaurant with a group of friends. It took a while to place our order but the food was decent- I had the fresh taglionini with truffle and a spritz. But I wouldn't go back because it felt like we had to ask for a lot of basic things- glasses for our water, toilet paper in the bathroom, and we never received bread on our table.

The restaurant is in a beautiful former palazzo, which really adds to the elegance. The service was impeccable. The food was beautifully presented, delicious of corse, and reasonably priced. We made reservations by phone earlier in the day which turned out to be a good idea. All the tables were full within a half hour of our arrival.
