Bidra med feedbackWe had a few different meals here but the star of the show was the beetroot filled ravioli (casunzier) as they were delicious. The spätzle was also good but outshined by its more earthy cousin.
I ate here on my first night in Cortina before my skiing mates arrived. The service was efficient and the food good. I went for a plate of polenta, mushrooms, grilled cheese and sausages with a side of buttered spinach with a small carafe of house wine. A great start to the holiday.
We were here for dinner after a long ride to Cortina. The restaurant is located at an optimal position, just at the entrance of the pedestrian zone from the Northern side of the town. We arrived at 6:15 PM and the waiter asked us if we wanted to drink or eat. Upon hearing our request to dine he asked us to wait 15 minutes before taking our order, as the kitchen opened at 6:30 PM. The fact that the kitchen opens at 6:30 for Italian standards is totally justified, for Cortina standards a little less. Despite being in Italy, Cortina used to be in Austrian territory until the end of WW1. Many restaurants were already serving at 6 PM, following perhaps an Austrian trend. I am not really sure why the kitchen opened so late, perhaps the owner grew up in a different setting, I don't know. Either way I'm not sure as to why he did not take our order immediately: he could have already left it in the kitchen to prepare once opened and asked us to wait a little longer rather than waiting until the kitchen opened to take orders (which could have ultimately slowed down the service). We ate outside, so I cannot judge the interior. The view outside is really beautiful, with a view over the Dolomites. Despite there being no cars (little noise) due to the pedestrian zone, it still got a little noisy: we were sitting at the edge of the dining area next to a public (not restaurant property) bench where people were sitting. If I were the manager I would perhaps ask to remove the bench in order to have a degree of silence for eating customers but the level of noise wasn't overall too bad. It could however, get loud on other occasions so if I were you, I'd eat on the Southern end in order to avoid possible disturbances. It is true that there are other tables with people dining but people that just sit while passing by might tend to be less aware of their surroundings and therefore less respectful from this point of view. The tables are however, intelligently distributed: there is ample room for waiters to pass through. However, the chairs tended to be uncomfortable so please adjust if you are of age or have physical issues with that. We were served in decent times: we both ordered pizza. In my case, ham, mushrooms and cheese were relatively evenly distributed on the pizza and the dough was also of good size. The pizza was of average to good size (I want to relativize this, as I myself was quite hungry that evening). The staff was professional, took our orders as they should have. The prices (again it depends) tend to be quite high for Italy but considering we are in a touristic area like Cortina they tend to be average. For 1x coke 1x beer 2x pizzas= 41 euros. The prices reminded me of Switzerland but I have a feeling that in other restaurants in the area one would have to pay the same amount. The price was therefore reasonable (quality to price and quantity to price are both good). Overall, the experience was good and I would recommend to eat here for typical italian meals (but not typical italian prices). I give 4 stars instead of 5: the day they remove that bench and the waiters ask us if everything is ok (strangely, they did not do that) keeping the same standard of experience I will add the last star.
A lot of change in the menu. eating was delicious, the service was great, the wein was great, the gluten-free options.
Personale gentile e molto gentile. Peccato per la pizza. mangiare a pranzo e digerirlo a cena!
