Bidra med feedbackThe Hotel Del is a dream come true for any couple wishing to escape the rigors of modern day life. The Sheerwater is one of the loveliest settings for a meal on God’s green Earth. The menu is small, but, this is the secret to keeping the food quality excellent. This is an American menu and every item is perfect. The service is very good and sensitive to the couple who want to linger without be harassed. The price is moderate yet the view of the Pacific and Point Loma are classic!!! My wife and I love to dine outside where the mild weather can be felt while observing the guests move around the beautiful grounds. The Pacific is gentle and the breeze is just perfect at sundown. Occasionally one will require a light jacket due to the marine layer that might roll in from the ocean. For the less hearty, simply move inside to the Italian Mediterranean dining room and gaze through the wall to wall windows. This is a lovely respite at a very reasonable price. One will not find a better value in the San Diego area. My wife and I have dined at the Sheerwater about five times per year over the last 15 years and will continue for many more years. Always a treat and parking is covered when your ticket is presented to the staff. Reservations are easy. Walk-in works well with never more than a 45 minute wait at the busiest times. The hotel is worth a tour and the many shops prove to be an interesting distraction if there is a wait.
We had dinner and brunch the next day. Everything was perfect. Our waiter was attentive and was helpful with the menu. We had a great time. I ordered the octopus to share and the scallops. The scallops were perfectly cooked and came with delicious gnocchi. She ordered the steak with blue crab topping. Also perfect! We had to take a bit home. I ordered the turnover for desert to share. I really enjoyed the turnover. The brunch had just about everything you could want (They don't have crab legs).I do miss the old Hotel Del Coronado brunch they used to have. That brunch has been shut down since COVID.
For such a beautiful hotel, and price of the entrees, the restaurant just had no warmth or ambience. We were expecting at least tablecloths. The tables were patio type. The pork chop we ordered medium, and one had to be sent back because it was actually rare. But it was delicious after all, but then one of us had nothing to eat until it was re served. Also the menu when we got there did not have many of the entrees we saw on the on line menu. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and apologetic. Unfortunately, we would have been happier with the bar menu where we sat for a drink before dinner.
Cody was amazing and helpful. Guided us through the menu and was attentive. Same with his support team member. We live in the island and it was our first time at sheerwater! We will definitely be back!
2 friends and I celebrated New Year's Eve with an early dinner here. The hotel grounds were crowded with people enjoying the lights and ice skating. We. had a table tucked away from the hustle and bustle and enjoyed a leisurely evening. The food and wine is pricier than I normally enjoy, but the service and atmosphere were worth it. The server did not rush us which was much appreciated. This may become a special event tradition.
