Bidra med feedbackMeal by the fire Our group popped in for evening meal as we where staying at St Minver holiday camp. Food was good, standard pub food. Atmosphere was great proper traditional pub, staff where really friendly drinks reasonably priced. We even popped back after midnight New Year’s Eve for couple more rounds before calling it a night.
An old fashioned cosy Cornish Inn, full of local characters. The owner Jamie is very welcoming. The food is standard pub fare, adequate but not outstanding, was of the impression the Cod fillet on the classic fish and chips was brought in pre-battered, and not freshly prepared on the premises as the menu states. The newly refurbished accommodation looks lovely but needs a bit of finishing. The bathroom door latch sticks, the locking mechanism into the room doesn't quite fit resulting in almost getting locked in the room twice. The cleaning staff need to be more thorough, the shower screen was not cleaned and covered in old soap suds and water marks, the drawers are not checked to see if previous guests have left anything behind ! A good port in a storm, literally in our case, but could be outstanding with a bit more work.
This pub serves really excellently cooked food, very reasonably priced and is very dog friendly. Super staff and very quick service. Best to book for a table, especially at weekends. Our only criticism is that the menu never seems to change.
We booked however it wasn't busy when we got there, they had a little veggie and vegan menu with 4 options, 2 of these vegan, I had the penang curry which had loads of veggies in, rice and a popoadum, which was nice, the food was out quickly. Great, friendly local, and so good to see the labelled vegan options, always a worry going to pubs like this as often left with chips and salad.
We had a warm and friendly welcome and the service was efficient. We chose from the specials board and our food was tasty and good value for money.
