Bidra med feedbackThis charming old-fashioned tea room is located in an interesting building in the center of Truro, offering great views of the city and cathedral. We visited for a special treat of high tea, which included sandwiches, cakes, scones, cream, and jam - all of which were very fresh and delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing that could have made our experience better was if we had been offered unlimited tea with our high tea set, as the pot of tea included was not enough to last us until our food arrived. Despite this, the experience was very enjoyable and we will definitely be returning.
Place looked grubby with totally miserable staff, we arrived around 325pm and the disdain on staff faces like we were an inconvenience, I did not know at the this time they closed at 4pm. We were looking forward to a nice Cornish cream tea, the food was ok, cutlery needed a polish and lady with short grey hair and jeans was so miserable and kept looking at us as if we were keeping her, we rushed our food and drink and were out in 30 mins, terrible experience and would not recommend, they give hospitality and Cornwall a bad name to the people who pay good money to experience an afternoon tea. I also would think any establishment would have trays for clearing tables, fingers in glasses was just so tacky. This could be such a nice place if they employed the right people and cleared out the deadwood!!
Excellent food, served by very polite and charming staff. Contrary to previous reviews, we were served promptly and professionally by the curtious staff. There are a few stairs to climb (not sure if a lift). Very olde worlde, set amidst an antique shop. Well worth a visit
Today, we went to this tea shop, supposedly as a treat, instead we left bullied and insulted after receiving no service at all. After slogging up two steep flights of stairs we waited 25mins but the tea never came. On arrival we weren’t greeted so assuming we should we eventually seated ourselves. We waited ten minutes at a table under the waiter’s nose but he continued to ignore us. There are only about six or seven tables in total in a smallish room. After eight minutes I asked for a menu and the waiter said he ‘hadn’t seen us’! Although wanting and needing to eat, we decided on just a pot of tea as the service was terribly slow and the food was unexpectedly expensive. After ordering we waited another ten minutes before asking if our tea would be much longer on receiving a sarcastic eye roll (from the blond waitress featured on their Facebook page) we were told it was just coming!. After another six minutes and we slowly got up to leave, the red headed waiter then ‘noticed’ us and asked if we would be returning, we answered ‘no’ and SHOCKINGLY he saw fit to shout across the room to myself and my 80 year old husband “well that’s good!” (I can attest to these timings as I am diabetic and have a ‘window’ when I must eat). SHAMEFUL! I wonder if the staff would have bullied younger people the way they did us? I very much doubt it.
Visited this morning. It wasn’t overly busy, so we ordered tea and cake. The tea arrived fairly promptly, but we left after 35 mins as we’d finished our tea, but without the cake. Sad, as it looked quite nice.
