Bidra med feedbackWe were lucky enough to be taken here by a friend, just up the road from the Madinat Al-Zahra ruins in Córdoba, Spain.I'm so glad he shared it with us, as the food was amazing!!!!!For two Brits who have been in rural Spain for 4 months, the food can be very similar in every restaurant, but not here!!Between three of us we shared starters of smoked salmon tartare with toasted delicate slices of bread, Vietnamese Spring rolls (I think pork) and croquettas made with Stilton and a delicate blob of apple sauce on top. All delicious! For mains we had duck cannelloni, mousaka, and solomillo with Pedro Ximenez sweet sherry reduction and cous cous. We were all rediculously happy and full at this point but our friend ordered a kind of Mille feuille with cream and fruit which was also very good.I can't tell you how refreshing it was to have an interesting menu, cooked and presented brilliantly.Service was also excellent, and our poor Spanish was overshadowed by our waiter's very good English (the shame!).The Rioja was also very good! We've worked out its a 4 hour walk to this restaurant from our house and it is totally, utterly and definitely worth it!! (Might get a taxi back though :)
We read about this restaurant, which is near Medina Zahara, and six of us went there for lunch. We had one of the best meals we have ever had anywhere. The cooking is extremely delicious and inventive. We shared different dishes, at the suggestion of Ingrid, the cook: the Gambones al kataifi were among the most memorable but it was altogether a wonderful experience. So we went back a week later, again six (only three having been there the previous week) and again it was fabulous food. It is also extremely good value for money. We recommend it strongly!
We just happened to be passing by and decided to call in for lunch, without doing our usual research/checking online. My wife ordered meat balls with mash potato and I had the vegetarian savory strudel. Both were obviously prepared and cooked to order and were excellent. We were served by the owner and she happily explained (in perfect English) what each menu item was.Don't be put off by the slightly tired decor and plastic exterior seating, you'll enjoy the food and experience.
Visited this place on a recent trip to Cordoba and could tell it was something special when I saw the owner working on some mini wraps in the bar, who then gave me a passionate description of the process. Seven of us stayed for lunch that afternoon and all agreed it was the best food we had tasted during our trip. The lady who runs it is clearly a very good cook who has a rarely found interest in producing tasty food without making a big thing of it. We shared a range of 'tapas' and followed with a delicious seafood 'paella' made with short noodles (Fideuá?)..excellent.Puddings were good, maybe i little sweet but that seems to be a thing in southern Europe, what a great place though. We were the only people there as it was late afternoon but we were treated like special guests and the atmosphere in the garden makes it work even without other people. Really pleased to have found and it's very near the ruins at Medina Azahara which are also worth a visit. Definitely worth seeking out, probaby no more than twenty minutes from the city and a nice drive.
