The Gather Cafe - Copeland

We were recommended this café through the guestbook at our accommodation. We went for lunch and all had the paninis with a bowl of homemade soup. The meal was delicious and the portions were generous. We couldn't resist the cakes, so we took some to go. Our dog was treated very well, given free biscuits and a blanket to lie on. We hope to visit again soon.

We arrived in Ennerdale Bridge early during our Coast to Coast walk, and were fortunate to have the opportunity to visit The Gather. The drinks and desserts were fantastic, but don't forget to explore the cafe itself. They had a wonderful selection of books set in the area, as well as more Coast to Coast souvenirs than we encountered in Robin Hood's Bay. Overall, it was a fantastic discovery.

I took a stroll around Ennerdale Water and stumbled upon this place on my way back. The tea and cakes were delightful. The cafe is a cozy spot to relax, complete with free WiFi and a charming little shop.

The homemade cakes are the star attraction at the village café. A friend and I are quite frequent visitors. Sadly, on our last visit my friend asked for tea in one of their nice patterned china teapots and was told these nice teapots were reserved for tea for two . How odd to find such a pedantic jobsworth attitude in a volunteer run, community café. C 'mon Gather, treat your customers with some cheer! It might be worth noting that the café can be very noisy dogs barking, the world 's loudest coffee grinding machine, and cutlery clanking. So if you have issues with noise levels, this might not be the place for you (although, there is outdoors seating).
