Bidra med feedbackWe came to Great Wolf Lodge from Myrtle Beach as the last leg of our vacation. After being a little let down by Myrtle I wasn't expecting much. As soon as we started the check in process I could tell it was different. The woman was so nice and explained everything about their activities, how things worked and where things were. The whole Lodge is adorned with magical items thanks to the MagiQuest game which we opted out of. Other kids were opening treasure chests and talking to dragons though, which looked like fun. The room was HUGE! even though it was the cheapest one. We got a pizza from downstairs the first night and it was delicious and a really good deal. I also got Dunkin Donuts both mornings we were there. They have an app you can order the food from and then just go get it so you don't have to wait in line. And they have their own TV channel which features a wholesome original cartoon! The arcade was exciting but the claw machines are impossible to win (be warned). The water park itself was so much fun. I was a little nervous at first but my daughter begged me to go with her on some rides and I ended up having so much fun. The food inside the water park is super expensive and took a while but we didn't want to leave so we splurged. My 5yo didn't have quite as much fun since he's not a big swimmer but if you have a little mermaid or dare devil in your family, Great Wolf Lodge is 100% worth the trip.
Recent stay: Overall a good experience at a fairly affordable price. The kids cabin is a wonderful addition to a hotel stay I think that's great. On a rather sour note: But when your spouse reaches down to pick up a bag and comes back up and finds the safe door open thus almost cracking their skull...You might want to have those sort of things closed, or taped shut until a customer wants to use them.Better yet you might want to have the safes all hinge toward the wall and not inward toward the room in any way. Also might I point out some of the apparel in the water park is getting a bit risque, borderlining thongs. Too much butt cheek. If we had wanted that for our grandson, we would have just went to the beach. This was supposed to be a family outing.Rooms: See aboveSafety: See above
We live in Florida, and wanted to get away to do an end of summer family trip. Seeing the ads, and liking the idea that it wasn 't Disney, we booked our stay, flight, and rental car, and away we went! PROS: We flew into Concord airport. The drive is literally 10 minutes away. The airport is small, so I 'm not sure what other flights go there, but it goes direct from Fort Lauderdale to there 3X a week. The water park was big enough for my 8 year old twins and 5 year old to be entertained for days. If you have older teenagers, it might get boring, but I can 't speak to that. Since 90% of the park is indoors, we loved that we could play in the water, free of sunscreen, hats, and SPF shirts. The lifegaurd staff was extremely vigiliant. Some places I go to, the lifegaurd is sitting in a chair on their phone. These young folks seemed to take their job seriously, which was great, considering the lazy parents who would place their kid in a life vest, and promptly leave the pool area. We booked the Kid Cabin . We are a family of 5, and had a ton of space. You can fit 7 in this room, but it might get tight with one bathroom. The room 's airconditioner was cold, like arctic cold. It was kind of loud when it would switch on at night, but we had obnoxious loud neighbors, so it would drown them out. The room was cleanly, and everything seemed to be in working order. We were room 1008. The pizzza at Hungry as a Wolf was decent. Kind of a Papa John 's feel, but it worked, and my kids ate it. The fountain soda area at Buckets was unlimited refills, which is great, considering folks like Disney use special cups to limit refills to 2X. The lodge is near a bunch of other dining establishments, if you want something diffrent. We went to Mac 's Speedway, and it wasn 't great. The lodge is also close to other attractions within 20 30 minutes away. We went to a winery and a gold mine in one of our adventures, as we wanted to experience something Carolinian . We opted for the Wolf passes for our kids. Yes, they are exensive, but coming here is rare for us, and it gave them the opportunity to try everything. Laser Tag looks like they converted a few office spaces into the playing area. Kind of hokey, but I admired the ingenuity, and my kids loved it. The Atomic Rush and active theater experience was kind of dumb in my 40 year old eyes, but my twins enjoyed it, and we had fun. I enjoyed the bowling. It 's small, but cute. All my kids loved it. Along with Laser tag, my kids dug the the panning for gems . Loved that they have a Dunkin on property. It was nice to sit on your room 's patio area and not be devoured by mosquitoes. It has plenty of parking. CONS: The arcade is an absolute ripoff. It 's basically Chuck E Cheese, but 4X the price. I thought the animatronic show in the lobby was a good idea, but the storyline is very dumb, and some of the characters you can 't hear what they are saying. The wizard scavenger hunt is fun and a great concept, but items to find on the 4th floor are a pain, as there are no readily available stairs to use like floors 1 3, so you 're stuck using their slow elevators. Atomic Rush is literally a 60 second experience. Lame. They should place a nigt light in the Kid Cabin area of the rooms, as the room gets dark. The room 's bathroom only has one light switch, which turns on the fart fan, as well. The fan is loud. I wish the room 's bathroom had two switches, so you didn 't wake everyone up, trying to pee at night. The breakfast seems very overpriced. We bought groceries, and just had cereal in the morning, in our room. The bar drinks are very watered down. Bring your own booze. SUMMARY: Overall we had a great stay. Was it perfect? No. Was it a break from Florida and the bugs and humidity? You bet! A lower key, less stressful experice than Disney. We will try to come back in Winter.
Our room, the Grizzly Bear suite, thermostat was broken room read 65 degrees at all times so AC would never kick on. We sweat both nights, hotel would not fix, complained 4 times, only offered us to pack up and move to smaller room which we could not because we had baby and needed 2nd room. When paying 400 dollars or more a night you expect a cool room. Besides that resort was clean and nice but the nickle and dime you for everything. 19.99 for breakfast buffet which was not great plus 3.00 for drink. 11-19.00 for a mixed drink. Everything extremely over priced like a Disney trip. One night is plenty, kids are bored unless you pay for arcade, bowling, etc. AC though is what got us.
Great place for families of all ages. Well worth every dollar for a vacation here. Pros: Great dining options inside hotel and nearby, excellent customer service by all staff, many water ride options for the whole family, safe environment, no need to carry a wallet as all charges can be made to room, great spacious rooms! Con- none to mention.
