Bidra med feedback‘ Every burger is fresh to order, which is good, but expect a wait especially when they are busy. There are only four items on the menu, but the Speck Cheeseburger should be your only choice. Order the “Chronic” and they will put a fried egg on it. The Cheeseburger and the egg mixed together very well. I wish it was a little bigger. My husband ordered a double chronicle, but it seemed as if they used the same amount of meat and it simply divided into two pieces. The frits smelled better than cost.
About a year ago I visited a Yelp event and met Tony. Tony flew over Hoodie Burger in South LA (formerly called South Central). I think Tony works in this area so that he is the adventurous type, he tried many of the local places for him. I asked Tony what place he thought was the best and he said it was Moms. The term Hoodie Burger stuck in my mind and end last year, I made it my “09 New Year resolution to try Hoodie Burger and other businesses in this area, since its basically a Yelp Dead Zone (i.e. community kept by Yelp.) Last weekend I expanded the place in advance because I wanted to hold a small foodie event yesterday – that was my first series “Food in the Hood” that I held this year. There were few people waiting for their orders. I asked for a menu, but they said they were from paper menus, and the server pointed me to the side of the building. They had basically written 4 articles: Tacos, a Veggie Burger, a Speckkäse Burger and another product I cannot remember. They also serve fries. But forget all the other times except the beef burger. You do not go to a Burger Square to order a Taco or a Veggie Burger. I ordered the bacon and cheeseburger. It took several minutes until the order came through as they make it an order. I'm glad I brought a newspaper to read. When my food arrived, I took a look at the burger to make sure it was the way I ordered it – with salad, tomatoes and ketchup. It comes with onions, mustard and other things if you like these other spices on your burger. The burger was subjected to the specification and I took my first bite. Before I write it to you, I have to reserve that I'm not a big burger fan. I'll eat burgers, but I rarely bless myself for them. I think IN N Out is okay and I like the gourmet, no substitute, burger that offers FO. So I said I thought the burger was better than your typical In N Out burger. It had a good taste, just filled me right, and best of all, it had no fat to taste or feeling. I could be wrong, but I think the Pattys are 1/4 a lb, not 1/2 a pound. The burger and a soda cost around $6. I pointed out that the outside area has only a limited seat. About 6 bar stools and then 2 tables that sit 4 people. So it is not a good place to bring a large group of people. So you flash forward until yesterday to the date of my actual food in the hood event. I was grateful that there were no shows, because although I was able to save the two tables, one of the tables had no shadow of the afternoon sun. Most of us used the table that had shadows or sat on bar stools. Most people in the group ordered the Chronic Burger, who is basically her bacon and cheeseburger with the addition of a fried egg. One person in our group ordered the Double Chronic, who has 2 cattle patties. Everyone in the group has turned off the burgers. It was really fun that women in the group take a bite of their burgers and enjoy the moment. On average it took between 7 to 10 minutes to complete the orders so that each member of the party arrived, I asked them to place their orders immediately so that there would be no feedback. Overall, our assessment was that they were good burgers. Not necessarily the best burgers we've ever tasted, but given the price of a Chronic Burger (about $5,) its really much – especially if you happen to be in the area. One person said that she wished that the burgers had more meat – her husband said that the double Chronic did not fill enough. I'd probably eat more burgers if there was a mom in my neighborhood. Some people ordered the fries and we found them on average. They smelled better than they tasted. The service was for the most part attentive – they did not confuse our orders with an exception – I have a sequence of fries that I did not order, but they did not blame me either. There are only two things that I wish Mom had: 1) Milkshakes – I normally eat milkshakes when I eat burgers and 2) they must be more consistent, you were your order. they have separate windows for ordering and picking up your order, and the servers do not always help you from the corresponding window. The place has plenty of parking. So if you happen to be a burger and happen to be in this part of the city, go to mamas. Please note: Alondra can be a confusing road. The restaurant is located on Alondra between Wilmington and Alameda east. The next crossing is Oleander.
When I signed to eat at Mom, I really didn't know what to expect. So I went with open mind and closed my car doors. It was one of those lazy weekend days that drove to Compton, the trekking of North Hollywood was not an easy game, although it was one of those days when everyone went erratically, so all highways were constipated for accidents. I wanted to call my host to tell him I didn't want to do it, but with a little patience I made it out and only 15 minutes too late. That was a real burger gang as you can call it. They only serve burgers, pommes and soda. They are only able to accuse maybe 8 or 10 people at a time and it is sitting outside. Parking was abundant on both sides of the place and street parking. They are a cooked to order space, so no heat lamps and takes a while, so be patient again (that was the theme of my day this day). Let me tell you, the burgers are BIG and I ordered the smaller part, so ready to be hungry! It wasn't the best burger I had, but it wasn't bad either. If I somehow landed in this area and was really hungry and can't go anywhere else, I'd come back. The service was not bad and at the point the man who took my order was gruff but very friendly. I wish they had milkshakes to complete my Burger and Pommes, but you can only hope...
