Bidra med feedbackEaster Sunday with the family. The place was packed but the welcome was warm and friendly. No menu, so you sit back and relax and only need to choose your wine. Pasta fritta with salumi were amazing. Beware as it is very addictive but their is so much more to come. Risotto with artichoke and asparagus which was cooked to perfection. Polenta with crema di tartufo. This was an explosion of flavour and a super smooth consistency. Overpowering for some of the guests but I loved it. Roasted goat. Again cooked to perfection. Sliced roast beef in rosemary or lemon. Here we have the only slight criticism. No salad or potatoes. So just the meat. Normal for Italy but strange for us. Tiramisu and creme caramel were perfect. As busy as it was, we were spoiled rotten. Constant care and attention without being intrusive. I would recommend travelling up the mountain to Caboara to anyone. A gastronomic treat.
Tutto grande, abbondante, digeribile. Qualità/prezzo eccellente. Tornerò dopo l'estate per il cinghiale.
Not too repeat all the general remarks made by the previous reviewers (which I agree with), I would urge you to try this most excellent restaurant hidden away in the wilds above Bedonia and Borgotaro. You do not expect such wonderful cuisine in this area where one normally finds excellent home style (mamma al forno) cooking. Don't expect a menu, you get what they decide to give you. On this occasion we had an antipasto of home made salami with two local cheeses, gnocchi fritti and a compotte of apricots with a slight spicy kick. Two starters: risotto ai funghi and risotto alle albicoche. Main was guinea foul with torta di spinachi and torta di patate. We were offered some roast beef, but by then we were pretty full and needed to keep a space for desert. Desert was a tiramisu with layers of apricots instead of biscuits, delicious. A wonderful meal. To get through the meal, don't be in a hurry. Set aside a good 3 hours. At roughly €40 per person it is pricey for the area, but then the food is above the average. A place to go for special occasions or a treat once in a while. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic dinner for four people. Without us having reserved the **** produced a five (5!! course dinner in no time! Local antipasti, a fabulous salad of parmesan and porcino, pasta, wild boar and desert. All served with a warm and genuin hospitability and for a more than decent price. We loved the food and the experience!
