Bidra med feedbackOur first time here. We had the shrimp and fish combo. Plenty of food for both of us and it was excellent. Shrimp is a nice size, I got the fried, it was lightly breaded, fresh out of the fryer. Hush puppies were excellent, not greasy, has corn inside the fluffy moist ball. My husband is a picky fried fish eater and he gave it a thumbs up! The Cole slaw was pretty good, I'm not a big slaw eater. The red beans were wonderful. The food was on a bed of Cajun rice which was very tasty. Everything is cooked up fresh so we didn't mind waiting 15 minutes for our order. We have a new favorite restaurant!
For the price you get a good amount of food. The fish was seasoned very well and was flakey and fresh. It is made cooked to order, so your food will be hot. I would suggest trying them out and supporting this local business.
The service was good. Waitress was friendly. Long wait for food. Food was hot and fresh! They seemed short staffed. Dining area was snug.
This was my first visit, and I will definitely go back. The plate of food was better than 3 stars, IMHO, but the menu is not. I ate the catfish/shrimp, coleslaw, beans, dirty rice, the #5 on the menu. The food was very tasty, reasonably priced, and portions were adequately generous. Service was good, but it was a slow time in the late afternoon, so.... My 4th star left when I surveyed the menu. I personally don't want a plate of fried food on a bed of rice. I should have noticed that when I ordered...my bad. Unless I missed that too, there's not a fish or shrimp combo on the menu that's generous with veggies. I don't want fries or rice with a plate of fried fish and shrimp. It costs an extra $3.75 to add a cup of okra to a combo plate that's already $12-14! What? And that vegetable is more fried food. Where's the pickled okra, or chilled seafood salad? (They do have chilled shrimp cocktail, but he's got competition in a Cancun-style, shrimp-cocktail heavy hitter across town. Good luck with that! Or the seared summer squash and sweet onions, or the southwest veggie bake? There's room for easy improvement that wouldn't break the bank or tie up the grill, but the fried fish is good.
So good! Late lunch for us. I can tell you that this place will develop a following. The wife had fried shrimp with fries, slaw, and red beans. I had fried fish and grilled/fried shrimp, rice, beans, and slaw. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. Jacob was welcoming and took great care of us! We will be back!
