What a great place! Beautifully decorated, superfriendly staff and amazing food!!The food was so fresh and full of flavor. Really excellent.You won't find this restaurant if you don't know where it cause it's off the beaten path but it's right in the centre of the village.They also have a beautifully decorated terrasse!
I'm a bit late writing this as we visited 5 months ago but I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to pass on my thoughts! This restaurant was chosen by my father-in-law as we were in Colmar for the weekend to celebrate his 70th birthday. We were a group of 6.We were seated in the cellar section as opposed to the vibrant & packed upstairs part. I think the best way to describe the service here is - and you may think I'm overexaggerating but I'm honestly not - we felt we were treated like royalty. The host spent aaaaages telling us about the menu, it was a long time before we placed the order, I tell you! He described everything despite not always knowing the English words - I speak French but even I was stumped on a few (and as result I now know the French word for pumpkin!) - but we got by. Anyway, nothing was too much trouble or too time-consuming. We were brought an appetiser of vegetable soup in a glass, which was delectable. You don't order this, that bring it to you regardless. I'm not really a fan of vegetable soup but it was lovely, and you only get a small amount. I can't remember exactly what I had for my starter. Looking at my photos it looks like some kind of tart, quite possibly tarte tatin but I can't be sure. My husband and brother-in-law had snails, which were beautifully presented and had the most delicious sauce which required mopping up with bread.My main course was guinea fowl stuffed with pumpkin. The pumpkin kept it moist. The flavours were out of this world. It didn't look a lot on the plate but it was plenty, take it from me (who has a very big appetite).Dessert was tiramisù, served in a glass. It was a very light option and not at all heavy. The atmosphere in the restaurant though was incredible. It was so warm and friendly, from the staff to the guests. I went upstairs to the toilet and remember nearly tripping over someone's labrador and then having a chat about it. A group of local people ended up being seated near us and we ended up chatting to them, one of them ran a mulled wine stall at the Christmas market and told my father-in-law he could get a free drink if he came by the stall the next day. The best of all though is that the staff really made a fuss of my father-in-law over his birthday, which they hadn't known about in advance until my sister-in-law casually mentioned it during the starters. When the dessert came, it was with a great fanfare of singing and pot-banging as what seemed to be every member of staff including the chef came downstairs to wish my father-in-law a happy birthday.It was such a personal, happy experience that we left feeling more like family than just another bunch of tourists. An amazing experience, and probably the best customer service I've ever had in a restaurant.
