Bidra med feedbackWe dined at Gustav's in the Georgian Bay Hotel and found the atmosphere to be a bit dated and the main dining area to be too open and lacking coziness. The staff, particularly the manager, worked diligently to ensure our satisfaction. Our waiter was adequate, although we did experience a delay in receiving the wine list and our wine. The lack of a physical menu requiring the use of a phone was not ideal, especially in a restaurant as lovely as this one. The steak and prime rib dishes were of good quality, with flavorful meat, but the baked potato was lukewarm and tough and the wild rice was bland. We chose not to have dessert. Considering the price point, we expected a more consistently excellent meal, rather than a mix of hits and misses.
We go back to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Costume service was good. Although the restaurant is dark, we enjoyed the privacy of the booth from time to time. We enjoyed sitting on the window. The food is... always great and our Streaks were delicious.
The last time that my fiancées and we are at this “production” in March 2022, we were made to feel as if we were “happy” sitting on a table. We are placed in the corner of an EMPTY restaurant and met with an impersonal...and indifferent waiter; then we have gone foolishly to spend our money. Today we asked a table and we were told, “we are fully booked”. I would have bought it if I were unable to see 18 EMPTY tables from the entrance. We took our money elsewhere.
This restaurant is dark and dry, worn/torn chairs and the food, although beautifully presented was not good at all. The baked potatoes were sent back to be cold and actually came back cold to the touch. In the meantime, our other food was consumed and 3 of us never had the potato. Very badly managed.
We recently returned from a one-night stay at Georgian Bay Suite and had a delightful dinner and breakfast at Gustav Chophouse. We both chose the sirloin steak oscar for dinner and the steaks were cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the seared scallops and calamari. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée, which is always my favorite after a filling meal. The next morning, we returned for breakfast and both ordered eggs benedict. I highly recommend dining here as the service was excellent for both dinner and breakfast.
