Bidra med feedbackIm a cook, my husband is a baker. We expect high standards. I take my hat off to the chefs the meal was excellent. The 1st course was served to us within 20 minutes of arriving but unfortunately I had to ask where the dessert had got too. We arrived at 12.45pm and were still waiting for our pudding at 2.30 pm. Very annoyed it spoilt lunch out with my husbands mother. It was a xmas treat as we won t see her on xmas day, due to me working.
I enjoyed my Kofta starter and my partner quite liked the pate. Great steak main but the monkfish dish with sag aloo was dry and not particularly tasty. I left half and thought it was a nice idea but badly executed. I mentioned this to the waiter to have us our bill and he apologised and said he hoped they could make it up to us next time. I don't think we will be returning, unless it's for steak.
Food was good just a shame about service Waitress was very nice but had to wait for menus even wine menus thought we had been forgotten also table to be cleared after main course had to ask for desert menus even also ask for coffees the bill even though the restaurant was not full at the time Only once at the main course did the waitress ask if the food was ok to which it was but thought it bad service management of staff
It was several years since we had last visited The Peldon Rose and found it a bit disappointing. Initially they were going to sit us in the conservatory where there was a very large family celebration going on and was quite noisy with children running around. They did seat us elsewhere and service was good in taking our orders, however the food took ages to come. The menu was pretty limited and whilst there was nothing particularly wrong with the food (except for the blue cheese steak sauce that didn't taste of blue cheese! , it just wasn't good enough to bother going back.
I have to say that The Peldon Rose has now become my new favorite restaurant in the Colchester area. The food and eclectic choice of wines were a delight.
