Bidra med feedbackStaying at the hotel nearby we had an early evening snack. Staff were very friendly and seemed pleased my husband ordered a francesinha... We hadn't a clue what it was but he will try anything. I ordered a basic burger! The food was very quick to arrive well cooked with plenty of fresh garnish on my burger and a very nice local white wine and beer. Now for hubbys food. It looked like a Croque-monsieur or more accurate a madame with the fried egg on top. But the filling was pork ham bacon melted cheese inside 2 thick slices of toasted bread in a sauce/soup not unlike muligatawny??? You may ask! He loved it. The waiter told us it was a dish from Porto and we did check it out on Wikipedia. Worth going here for the not too faint hearted. We will remember Coimbra for this dish if nothing else!
I just went for breakfast, so I don´t really have information about other meals served here, but I think this is a good place for having a traditional breakfast, light lunch or snack. Big quantities, good prices, clean place, fast and friendly service.
Foi super caro. Demoraram a fazer o atendimento, mesmo depois de terem dito para nos sentarmos. Não tenciono voltar
The best bifanas I have had!! I waked in here by chance and with no expectations. I was just starving after riding the train for hours to this unknown city (to me). I order a bifana to go since i was in the clock, and had an appointment at IMT 10 minutes later. It took them 10 minutes, or maybe 9 to get it ready, I almost regretted, but I got it, paid and left. I took a bite since i was really starving, and swear i heard Angels singing as i am chewing. The meat was just perfect, and a generous amount! All for just 3.50. I am definitely getting on the train again for 3.5 hours to have that bifana again!
I've eaten here a number of times now and am always stunned at how quickly the freshly prepared food comes to the table. The wait and management staff are extremely friendly as well. I have had two different soups, both at just the right temperature, a large tuna salad, and a fish dish with rice and fresh salad vegetables. Everything I've had is always perfect, even day-to-day! There is always a good amount of business at this restaurant, although I eat an early lunch by Portuguese standards. Pricing is extremely reasonable as well. Two of the four walls are all glass, so any meal affords a fine opportunity for people-watching as well.
