Bidra med feedbackI ordered takeout from this restaurant. The congee was delicious, but the other dishes were just okay. The vegetables were not good at all, they were old and partially rotten.
Tonight, we decided to have a simple dinner by getting a bowl of congee, so we went to the Hai Wong Congee Shop at the Thousand Colors Store. It's been a long time since we last visited, and the two of us ordered a total of seven items, including chicken wings, sticky rice chicken, and for an extra $6 we could upgrade to a special drink: mango popping pearls. The chicken wings and sticky rice were really authentic, hot and full of ingredients. The mango popping pearls with coconut and mango were crunchy and not too sweet, making it a perfect summer treat. The fried noodles were also commendable, dry yet fresh and crispy. The XO sauce pan-fried radish cake was flavorful with a generous amount of XO sauce on each piece, definitely a must-try snack. The fried intestines were surprisingly crispy, served with smooth rice rolls and sauce, making it the perfect pairing with congee. We also ordered the signature one-pot congee, which was creamy and hot with plenty of fish slices, shrimp, and meatballs. My friend ordered the Cosmic Soy Milk and Cold Tofu, which they loved and said could be a dessert. We never expected a simple congee dinner to be so fulfilling. We left feeling very full, and the bill of $160 was definitely worth it.
The duck leg with dried tangerine peel soup rice was flavorful and the broth was well-balanced. The dish included one duck leg, three shiitake mushrooms, and a refreshing iced lemon water for a total of $51. This price is a bit higher compared to other soup dishes I have tried, but overall it was worth it.
