Bidra med feedbackTonight, I was the guest of my brother and nephew at Dimillo's, the food was INEDIBLE! From the lobster stew to a Fried Fisherman's platter and polenta, all the food was so salty that my brother and I sent our food back to the kitchen. The waitor informed us that the salt was in the breading, so anything fried would likewise be salty. OK, but that doesn't explain the salty lobster lodster stew and polenta. In Portland, Maine, famous for excellent seafood, I had a hamburger and a salad. Upon leaving, the hostess asked about our dinner. I explained about the above dining misadventure. A gentlemen was standing nearby, apparently a manager, didn't apologize, but informed me that the stew and platter were their best sellers. I shrugged, and exited the restaurant.
The The fish was old you can taste and smell the ammonia. One piece OK and the second one is old smelly like ammonia. The Cook trying to cover it up. The I don’t have handicap bathrooms. I need two people get in and out because of that.Wheelchair accessibility: Because you have a sticker on the window doesn’t mean for wheelchairs .
Amazing! The food was so delicious and do keep in mind that the menu constantly changes due to popular demand or availability of the products. I will definitely bring my family back and the atmosphere is something that you should not miss! I was not aware that I was on the water until I got off. The best perk is that you don’t have to look for a parking because they have one on their lot!
Day after XMAS buddy and I hit Cabelas and then had mussels chowder and crab cakes. Sat at the bar. Very comfortable and would have stayed longer but for an appointment in MA. Will return with the spouse for entrees on the deck in April!
For our quick visit to Portland, we wanted an experience dinner. While we were hesitant due to the mixed food reviews, we made our reservation for DiMillo 's, which was only a couple of blocks from our hotel. While we found it on the map, we were surprised how long the walk was from the street to the dining room, but it wouldn 't be bad in nicer weather. The restaurant is a converted ferry and there were plenty of nautical details to look at. Our waitress has a quirky sense of humor, which suited us just fine, and she helped us construct our dinner: We split the scallop roll for our appetizer, and the mixed seafood broil as our entree. The scallop rolls shouldn 't have worked. As New Englanders, we wouldn 't have mixed fried scallops, bacon and cheese, along with a side of tarter sauce, but in reality, it worked out really well, with each bite offering a slightly different flavor (OK, the tarter sauce and cheese were a bit odd, but the dish didn 't need the tarter sauce. And the fries were absolutely addictive. The mixed broil paired haddock with more perfectly-cooked scallops and shrimp. The seafood came with lemon Hollandaise sauce, which added a nice richness to everything. We got the cheddar grits as a side, which our waitress said she was not fond of. While we found the texture a bit off, some of the sauce smoothed it out and the taste was fantastic. This restaurant is old-school and some might say touristy. But we enjoyed our meal.
