A very pleasant dining experience with Cristian as our waiter. He was super friendly and didn’t hesitate to make us feel right at home constantly checking in and personally going over menu items that best suited our plant based diets. Overall, a very friendly staff that really wanted to give their customers the best dining experience possible. Not to mention that the food was suuuuper. All the ingredients from the salad to the tacos were fresh and tasty. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fine night out eating in Mexico City.

We are two Americans and foodies. We love great restaurants and have enjoyed some of the finest restaurants in the world. We decided to spend a long weekend in Mexico City as we heard it is a foodie town. Porfirio’s was recommended to us by a concierge at the St Regis as a good place to go to celebrate one of our birthdays. The guacamole bar and the steaks were of particular interest to us. We unfortunately do not speak Spanish fluently. That seemed to be an issue from the get go. None of the waiters spoke English enough to take care of us. They sent a mobile bartender to make us cocktails. Then about 15 minutes later a manager came and asked us what we would like to eat. We ordered the guacamole bar. He said “is that all” and we said, no, we definitely want dinner but just want to start with guacamole. The guacamole with cheese and pork rinds came out and it was great. However, not one person came by our table again to ask if we were ok or if we wanted anything else to eat. It was 75 minutes into our visit when we flagged down a waiter and asked for a manager. No one showed up for 10 more minutes. We explained our experience of not even being waited on and he said “let me get my partner”. They literally never showed back up to hear our feelings. We walked to the front door to wait for our car service and they sent a waiter to charge our credit card for the food and drink we did eat. No apology, no explanation. It was a horrible experience, especially for a birthday celebration.
