Sushi 21 - City of New York

The food is fresh, the quality is great, and the prices are reasonable. Most importantly: when I order takeout, their iPad for payments doesn’t have the awful tip settings. You just tap your card and that’s it! You’re not forced or guilted into selecting a tip amount. I love that and more places should do that.Food: 5/5

This is a staple of my neighborhood and I'm so glad it survived pandemic. It brings me back to my broke nursing school days when I had to live on $20 a day. Sushi is still good and they make it pretty fast if you needed in a hurry.Food: 5/5

I like this place. I've stopped in a handful of times. Yes, it's on a local subway stop. Yes, the inner atmosphere is dingy and dull and a bit depressing. But it's one place I can go in midtown-ish Manhattan to get sushi I don't have to have in a wait service restaurant. I order my sushi at the counter, it is prepared pretty quickly, and I take it to my table. It's great for people like me to tend to dine alone. The guys who work in there are basically cool. I will always keep coming back when I want fast good sushi. Places like this in NYC are becoming rarer and rarer.
