Bidra med feedbackWhat a disappointment! Encouraged by good reviews and since we were in the area that night, we headed down to Seaport to try the supposedly wonderful fresh fish. On a Tuesday at we were the only diners. The starter that was recommended arrived quickly...and was interesting and palatable, in particular the prawns in a Mauritian cream sauce. The experience went downhill from here. Our mains arrived without side dishes, we patiently waited mins and prompted the waiter. We were told that the dishes had gone? And after further probing discovered they had allegedly burnt them. Shocking really since we were the only guests. We asked for bread and butter and received that terrible half baked nuclear proof bread that is stored for years in freezers and reheated. Our fish was over cooked and dry and very disappointing. Very bad value for money, it is clearly very hard to delivery simple and fresh fish! When we complained to our waiter we were told that the chef was the owner, not sure what this implied, he should be ashamed. Do not bother.
Authentic Mauritian restaurants in London are few and far between. Seaport in Seymour Street, is a rare find. Food is good, as is the atmosphere but beware, do not be tempted to ask the chef to suggest a menu, it could be costly.
If you are in the Marble Arch area be sure to stop in here. Fresh fish served with an asian flair. I had the scallops with rice, excellent. My colleage had the Dover Sole and thought it was well done. We started with the calamari,...I have never had it prepared this way, it was pan fried with peppers, onions and a spicey dusting. It was THE BEST calamari ever. The down side would be the service, not sure if we got there as they were opening but they were a little slow to get a drink order and then there was amixup with the table behind us, but in the end it was all sorted out and they were coming to life.
The Seaport is a fairly new restaurant and provided us with a wonderful dining experience. It is mainly seafood, however, also has steaks. The seafood platter I had was spectacular as was the boullabaise my wife had. Sit outside if you can on a good...night it's great.
If you like seafood this is the place to go! Good wine list, knowledgable staff. Decor could be better And of course; the food is really good. Be careful; starters are not small size! Not cheap,, but not overpriced either
