New River Cafe

Just in case anyone needs to know, this is not a sit-down restaurant. It's a decent Chinese takeout place. So, not really a restaurant. Got it? Awesome.

Used to be a regular when I lived in Ham as a student over 20 years ago then when I moved to Teddington. Driving past, decided to pop in get a takeaway for nostalgia a trip down memory lane. Sue is as lovely as ever, so friendly. Food just as tasty still able to get my absolute favourite chicken cashew nuts in a yellow bean sauce so good! Very impressed by the actions they have taken as a result of Covid. I hope they’ve got a good discount at their supplier of anti bac wipes as everyone is given one to use to open the door as you leave! The place is absolutely spotless.

Silver River has been my favorite Chinese restaurant since I was a young boy. No matter how far I move, I always choose Silver River when I crave good Chinese food. The food is delicious with generous portions, the staff is friendly, and the service is fast. I only wish they offered delivery, but they are definitely worth the trip.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant tonight and as previous reviews mentioned, the owner Sue is lovely. She is very helpful and clearly takes pride in her food, which is reflected in the generous portions and hot, tasty dishes. The chicken chow mein and chilli beef were delicious, and the chicken balls were also good, although the batter was a bit heavy. I placed my order online and it was ready in just 15 minutes. The owners even waited to cook the chilli beef until I arrived, explaining that it enhances the sauce when cooked fresh. This attention to detail ensures that the food is served at its best quality. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely be returning soon.

Been going here for the last few years now and always happy with the food and service. Sue is a real diamond and knows her regulars well. I'm amazed how she remembers so many names! I love the crispy chili beef, Singapore noodles and the king prawn balls.
