Bloody Mary's - Christchurch

The beef and lamb are halal here. The steak are okay. The side dish is less okay. The sourdough bread is good though. The service is a bit slow, we have to wait for almost one hour for our meal.

Great restaurant in central Christchurch. Wonderful meals, warm ambience, great service. What more could you want? There is a real country-lodge feel to “**** Mary’s”, with a familiar and cosy feel to it. The meals let the high quality ingredients do the talking, and my steak was cooked perfectly. Loved the lemon meringue pie, and the kingfish starter was fresh. Will definitely be back!

The ambience of the restaurant is great. The restaurant is located inside the hotel. I like the design and set up. With regards to the food, we ordered the 300g striploin in medium rare and panfried akaroa salmon. A bit disappointed with the steak as it was dry even though it was medium rare. The side which is garlic and thyme gratin was amazing. The salmon was presented well but the sauce is a bit watery texture, not sure if it should be like that. The salmon was a bit bland. Good thing the sauce and salt baked celeriac helps with the taste. It’s our first time trying out **** Mary’s and maybe we can try it again next time but not in the near future.

Breakfast buffet is amazing! Plenty of choices for sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, croissants, toast, coffees, etc, just love it! Warm ambience dining, great service! Will definitely come back and try the dinner menu.

This is our third time coming to **** Mary's and it does not disappoint. The menu changes throughout the year which keeps it interesting. The decor and atmosphere are refined but relaxed. The customer service is always friendly, we are always looked after. The price point is higher than average, but that hasn't stopped us coming back, it just limits our visits to special occasions. Would highly recommend trying the rhubarb and strawberry crumble with custard, although everything else on the menu is amazing too.
