We didn't stay, but had a fantastic night and a lovely meal. This is a great restaurant and completely recommended.
Called for lunch on a day of the week. Very quiet, just another couple eating. The menu was very limited and we were disappointed not to find real beer for sale. It was made up of a barrel beer and staggered to discover later that it was 5, 90 a pint. Food and service was good but the experience in general was disappointing.
I went to this pub with my 11-month-old husband and daughter after I searched Google and I saw it recommended, and there was also a menu for children online. When we arrived at the pub, we were told that there was no children's menu, but we could order a small version of something in the menu. We ordered a cheese sandwich for our baby, brie sandwich and bacon for my husband and chicken cake and mushrooms for me. The chicken cake and mushrooms came with a layer of 3 cm oil at the top and a soaked dough that had sunk to the bottom. I usually don't complain, but the cake wasn't edible, so we tried to find the waitress who gave it back to us. We finally got his attention (only the service waitress) after 10-15 minutes (when he had returned from a smoking break) and after showing him the served food, he agreed that he would not want to eat the cake, and offered to take it out of the account. Then I asked if I could get the same sandwich that my husband tried to order lunch, which seemed edible; however, the sandwiches were made of cheap bread with extremely salted bacon. The cheese in my baby's sandwich was hard, rancid, and I wouldn't expect a human being of any age to eat cheese like that. This level of service seemed to transcend the other couple of discontented clients who shared their dismay over the service and standard of the institute with us. Something must have changed in recent months since the last good reviews here and from the Telegraph article that recommended it. Avoid like the plague. or until the new management has solved this.
Popped in for lunch, however no vegetarian food available on menu. Had to get back in the car and find somewhere else for lunch!
