The Welldiggers Arms - Chichester

One to check out! Fabulously located, friendly, English Country Pub. We received the warmest welcome and felt comfortable and well looked after from arrival to our departure. The food was all cooked perfectly and we were really able to relax in the atmosphere. Very much looking forward to returning at the end of the month!

An enjoyable day morning breakfast and watching the legal trail hunt arrive and depart!! Crypt S I’m so glad you took the effort to drive all the way from Catterick North Yorkshire to attend how decent of you ! The staff were brilliant and the atmosphere great. Breakfast was pleasurable and the coffee good. More should be done to support local pubs and restaurants they do provide a service to the community!!

Looking forward to having Sunday lunch here. Hadn’t booked as travelling when M25 closed so not sure of our arrival. Arrived at 1.30, told ‘all booked, not possible to provide meal from menu but you could have snacks crisps! . There were 7 tables vacant, we offered to sit in the bar area (2 tables vacant to eat, still not possible. Inattentive staff even to order a drink then waiting to pay! Most lucrative time in a pub is Sunday lunch to be turned away at 1,30 ! Is poor won’t go to Welldiggers again.

Having lived in the area when the Welldiggers was renowned for its fabulous T Bone Steaks and fireside welcome .It was an eagily awaited return to see how the old place faired .The ambience and decor some world away from the old setting, but thats where the betterment sadly ended .Bearing in mind we had a two hour slot to eat the food took an hour from ordering ,to the table and when it did arrive it was just about Tepid ,the roast potatoes soggy and the veg was cold . When delivered to the table we were warned that the plates were hot,alas the food was not.I was about to formerly complain but was warned by others in the group that it would ruin the Mothers Experience .Maybe the Crumble would rally to save the day we thought ,alas this was colder than the Ice Cream that adorned it.Hers a tip ...Spend less time trying to balance the Plated items on top of one another like some extract of Masterchef and focus on serving the food hot and on time . we were the last to be served and then were ushered along to get us out .All in all a hastily forgetable return.

Absolutely awful meal awful service rockhard roast potatoes, no meat all fat enough food for a five-year-old.. no pepper in the pot. No how’s your meal halfway through to Check we are OK feel completely robbed will definitely not be going back there again!
