Restaurant full, so we were directed to the cafe next door where a queue waited to be served, it was a slow process before we ordered our food which was two croque mesuiers, tea and coffee. We went to get a table but found most of them still with plates on them and those that hadn’t got anything on them were dirty and need a good wipe down as stained and mucky. Our food eventually arrived and it was luke warm where it should be piping hot. We had a bad experience and if we had known the outcome would have gone elsewhere as we are locals.
So disappointed by our visit today. We live locally and this used to be one of our favourite places to visit. Today we were so let down I doubt we will return We went to the boathouse and were advised that the kitchen had closed until lunchtime, but that they now had the cafe next door. So we went there. Only 1 other table in use and 3 members of staff. We stood at the counter and decided what we woukd have, and watched and waited, and waited whilst the gentleman behind the counter moved plates around. Not one member of staff acknowledged our presence, said hello won't be a moment or anything. We were just totally ignored. After a while we walked out and went elsewhere. Such a shame especially with the new barriers installed to access the car parks.
Popped into the cafè for a cup of tea and a bacon roll. Excellent service, really friendly and helpful. My friend and I had been out cycling and got caught in a downpour. No matter, we were able to bring our bikes in and dry off. Thank you!
My three friends and I stopped by for coffee at around 9:30 on Tuesday, October 31st, after a trail run. Normally we go to the cafe next door, but it was closed. We walked in and asked for coffee. A young woman reluctantly showed us to a table without a smile or greeting, displaying total indifference. We ordered four coffees and a croissant, but were told they had no croissants with no apology. When we asked for pain au chocolat instead, we were informed they were also out of those. The coffees arrived and everything seemed fine until a cheerful man suddenly appeared with a croissant on a plate, then disappeared. As my friends left, I stayed behind to settle the bill. The young woman who served us completed the transaction and walked away without acknowledging me or leaving my receipt. I noticed they had added a discretionary service charge and had to raise my concerns. Arrogance, ignorance, poor staff training, and an awful customer experience overall.
