Always delicious-have been going there for years . Straight from the courthouse. Wish they had one on the Northside
God mode have to stop by here for carne en su jugo when even in Chicago makes me want y o love back no many good restaurants
Interestingly, despite being called a taqueria, most people don’t come here for the tacos. The real draw is the Carne En Su Jugo, which translates to "meat in its juice." It’s essentially a beef soup that I've yet to find anywhere else that matches its quality and taste. Just a heads up—this place is cash-only, so make sure to bring some cash with you. There is a small parking lot directly across the street, managed by someone who will guide you to an empty spot and collect a few dollars from you when you leave. Yes, there is a menu, and there are other good options available, but after all these years, we usually stick to the Carne En Su Jugo. It comes in a generous bowl filled with tender, chopped beef in a rich broth accompanied by various vegetables and traditional Mexican toppings. If you’re familiar with Mexican pozole, the toppings are similar, including Mexican oregano, salsa, and dried red pepper. Each table also has a container of pickled vegetables—jalapeño peppers, garlic, cauliflower, and more—which can be enjoyed on their own or added to your soup. Their juices are freshly made, and you receive warm tortillas to savor with your soup. I recommend ordering a small bowl unless you’re exceptionally hungry. They also offer take-out containers and enjoy a robust take-out business. Additionally, there's a Mexican bakery next door where you can pick up delicious treats to take home. This is a Chicago staple that every foodie who appreciates Mexican cuisine should experience. While it might not be located downtown, you'll be surrounded by locals from the predominantly Mexican neighborhood. Weekends can get quite busy, so be ready to wait a bit for a table. Highly recommended!
