We enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu. The food was very good, nice wine choices, the ambiance was comfortable and conducive to conversation.
We tried everything as part of the two different choices featured during Chicago Restaurant Week fixed menu. The food profile of every single course dish was, without exaggeration, simply outstanding. Our chef came out and exchanged a few words with us and we personally congratulated him on a couple of his gastronomic achievements. Our young waiter was very personable and professional, which only contributed to enjoying an already fantastic meal. The only thing that was shocking to us in regards to the locale's ambiance was the fact that, after going to such great lengths in the execution of the space concept and design, they resorted to plastering the walls with several large TV screens. We actually managed to turn off the one right above our table, but still had three more vying for our attention in the background and from the corner of our eyes. Given that in today's world, we are constantly surrounded by screens of all sizes (one could even argue that we're almost attached to that particular one we hold incessantly in our hands), in our case we tend to look for unique places which refuse to give in and fall prey to this awful trend. For that reason, and for that reason alone, we do not look forward to returning any time soon. It's a shame that a banal trend has trumped chic design and haute cuisine of an otherwise almost perfect dining gem.
The restaurant is more of a bar up front. There was no host/hostess when we stepped in, at least at the time we went. We made reservations and we pretty much chose where we sit. Casual lighting is great for a date however we could do without the tv next to your table in the booth. The food was excellent and very delicious. Service was great and very nice.
This spot is empty for lunch and staffed with only one server/hostess. We were the only group there until 12:30 when a couple of hotel guest cam in. it might be the Wabash el construction but was a bit worrying. the food was ok nothing special so its not a draw. the server/waitress/hostess tried her best but she had the space a one point.
