Il Girasole - CHIARANO

It is obvious this is the place where locals go as the overwhelming majority of reviews are in Italian. The food was great, meat portions huge (a 1st in Italy for me haha) and the prices were fair. It does feel like a business though, so those who are into fine dining and expect attentive staff might be disappointed. I came with an Italian friend, the food was amazing and that's what mattered the most to me.

Despite a reservation for nine, we were greeted with a frown by the hostess. Some of the wine showed up right away and some showed up after the entree, let alone the first course. One member of our party was served her entree ONE HOUR after the rest despite repeated pleas to staff for help. My food was average at best (salad and a pizza). Others said the food was OK.

We were four of us looking for a place to have a quick lunch, as soon as we sat down they offer us a nice set lunch menu but we choose to have a la carte. We had bavette with seafood which was a very big and nice portion with fish and shellfish, i would just suggest to serve that with a finger bowl because it's inevitable to use your hands to clean the huge amount of shellfish, it was delicious and it took me long time to finish it as it was an unique dish with a super large portion. I really wanted to try the tiramisu ,but unfortunately it wasn't available, instead we had the Crema Catalana which was nice but i would prefer the amaretto crumble and crunchy rather than soaked undernett the cream, the other people had the pineapple carpaccio with ice cream and berries, that was nice as well . All in all we had a nice lunch and i'll consider to go back soon to try some other dishes.
