Maison Chaplais - Cheltenham

Very rude staff. Wouldn’t recommend it and definitely won’t go again. Also outrageously expensive for what it was.

Ive been here a couple of of times and the pastries and cakes are really good (especially the Bakewell tarts). My biggest issue is it is eye-wateringly expensive. £7 for a few biscuits or a baguette is twice if what you’d pay even in London . I appreciate it’s imported and costs have risen but they could offer a few more “budget range” items. It’s also quite dusty with a crowded feel between shelves. The takeaway coffee is very milky. In addition, both times I’ve ordered there the young staff have got the order wrong. I’m all about supporting local businesses and this place has so much potential!

Cute little deli shop with good selection although some of the branded goods are highly priced compared to other places. Anyway, the lunch sandwiches were made to order and very good quality although they did take an age to arrive. Good selection of sandwiches.

Fantastic breakfast spot, all the staff at Chaplais made us feel very welcome. 16 of us booked in for breakfast we were seated upstairs, plates were almost licked clean!! big thank you to Georgina, Poppy, Liz and Lucinda nothing was too much trouble. We will be back soon!

Good food, very well presented and brought out in good time. I love the homemade sourdough, but if you’re looking for thick toast you’ll be disappointed as this is thin and crispy. All high quality ingredients and decent flavours. I’d like to try for dinner next time.
