Acanteen - Chelmsford

Spot on. I was looking for a peaceful and serene atmosphere. I desired something uncomplicated but of high quality. I had all my desires fulfilled in abundance. Just what I needed. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had to order our food from a website at our table, which was a bit unusual. We also had to pay for our meal at that time (no cash accepted). The bill included an optional service charge, but we were unsure what this was for as we had just arrived and placed our own order for food and drinks. Additionally, we noticed that our cutlery was smeared, indicating a lack of attention to detail. When our drinks were served, my wife was given a different brand than what I had ordered, without any explanation until I asked. The server who brought our food seemed abrupt and did not inquire if we needed anything else, which was disappointing. Although the food was tasty, albeit somewhat basic, I do not plan on returning. With many dining options in Chelmsford, a rating of 3 stars does not justify a repeat visit.

We had high hopes for this place to exceed the quality of chain restaurants, but unfortunately it was only average. To start off, they were out of one of their main lagers, which was not ideal for my husband. Then, they were also out of the starter I wanted at only 7pm, which was disappointing. The chicken burger was lackluster and the steak was overly fatty. Lastly, the sticky toffee pudding was a letdown compared to other places. Despite wanting to support local businesses, we were disappointed with the food and will not be returning for dinner anytime soon.

The food is great and having independents are really important but the service continues to disappoint. Went in for lunch Yesterday and waited 15 minutes after sitting down before someone took our Order, despite already asking a waitress who couldn’t help as they didn’t have a tablet, then waited an even longer time until we were served food. Although the table next to us, sat down 10 mins after us and ordered 5 minutes later than us had already received their drinks. We reminded them of our drinks, and once received it was noted that one was wrong. Later, when getting the bill rather than having the wrong drink removed, we were charged for the wrong and more expensive drink. Not for the first time Really Poor service

Enjoyed a lovely meal and 2 for 1 on Prosecco which enhanced my visit! Good food and friendly staff.
