Courte Paille - Châteauvillain

The steak was well cooked, the service was fast at a very busy time, but the fish was burned, soot. my advice, don't take the fish.

Having eaten at many French motorway cafes over the last forty years, we were very pleased to find the Courte Paille at Chateauvillain Orges on our way South. All three of us had the pork, which was tender, and the usual pomme frites, which were...very tasty. The wine was also of a very good quality, so we were very pleased to have found something different from the usual motorway fare. In fact, we were so pleased that we each decided (without confiding our thoughts to the other two) to stop here on the return journey. Unfortunately, on such return we decided upon the steak two having the entrecote and me having the pave de rumsteak. My colleagues found the entrecote to be OK, but my rumsteak was even tougher than the leather soles of the boots that I had left behind in England. Prior to the main course, we were given a 'salad ' which comprised a few lettuce leaves with salad cream, and to follow the main course, we ordered a selection of cheeses. Maybe something was lost in translation, but we each received one portion of a different cheese! Finally, there was quite a long wait for the coffee.To sum up, I will return to this restaurant, as I still consider it to be better than the usual motorway fare, but I will do my best to arrive before 12.00 noon, and I will choose the more tender meats, followed by a dessert!

On the French motorways, many of the aires leave a lot to be desired in terms of catering, but here at the Chateauvillian aire on the A5 motorway is a branch of Courte Paille. This is principally a steak restaurant but there are a few...fish and salad options also. Meat is mainly cooked on a BBQ and is usually very tasty and the prices are very reasonable. So if you want to sit down in a restaurant and have table service while travelling north or south, this is a very good stop. One particular advantage here is that both carriageways share the same facilities, so you can use this restaurant no matter which direction you are travelling.

Après quelques kilomètres un arrêt s'impose pour le repas, ce restaurant est très bien tenu, les serveuses aimables et à l'écoute, pas trop d'attente, les plats sont simples mais bons, pas déçu pour un restaurant situé sur auroroute.

Ce restaurant est situé sur une aire d'autoroute, le service est assez rapide, les plats assez standards sans être exceptionnels. Son principal avantage est d'être là... Vous pouvez vous y arrêter vous ne serez pas surpris, ni agréablement ni négativement.
