Bidra med feedbackFirst impressions; No table cloth! Drab room! Receptionist was also waitress! Tea was served in horrid white chunky cups. Afternoon tea on a chunky tiered plates...tiny scones on top with pre packed clotted cream...not even in a dish. Sandwiches were filled with what tasted like sandwich fillings and cheap ham. There was no finesse....we thought it was a bit like Fawlty Towers....and expected John Cleese to appear! It was great to be with friends who could all laugh at it! Won't be going back for seconds! It wasn't even well presented... We had a knife and had to use our tea spoons to serve jam!
Absolutely beautiful afternoon tea, staff very friendly, food very good, perfect for a baby shower and would definitely recommend
I was expecting to have tea in the orangery .istead we we lead through a series of dab depressing rooms and seated in a grim ,dark and smelly little room in dire need of redecoration . The service was none existant . We we not asked about dietary requirements . We were presented with a selection of very poor quality sandwiches and cakes .. The pots of tea arrived about 30 mins before the sandwiches and we had to ask for fresh tea which was greeted with much tutting . Horrible experience !
Our afternoon tea did not match the image advertised. The sandwiches were very small, with fillings like grated cheese and pickle, a bit of ham and lettuce, and a grainy-tasting egg on a half triangle of bread. The scone was good, but the thick jam and cream were difficult to spread. The selection of cakes included a small meringue nest, a macaron, a chocolate truffle, a chocolate brownie, and another dense square dessert. The service was lacking, with stained tablecloths, a lack of hand sanitizer, and multiple issues with cups being changed. The server seemed overwhelmed and did not attend to empty tables promptly. Overall, it was not the dining experience we had hoped for.
We waited 15 minutes at the entrance before anyone greeted us. After being taken to the bar, we waited again for someone to assist us with Afternoon Teas. Just as we were considering leaving, a staff member finally arrived and escorted us to the tea room. The food was well presented and fresh, but the service was lacking. We were given a coffee pot without any milk. Upon leaving, no one acknowledged us. Overall, we were unimpressed and felt that our experience was only due to using a Groupon voucher.
