Hickory Tavern - Charlotte

End of an era for me? for almost 20 years at this place. Sometimes several times a week. In recent years, the place has gone fast. Food quality and service are definitely not what they used to be. Yesterday (Thursday) I came at 2:30 for some wings. No one at the reception, which is good, because I still wanted to sit at one of the Bistro tables in front of the bar. 1 other table occupied, 3 cartridges at the bar. I waited 10 minutes without anyone noticed me or addressed me? have not seen a waitress all the time and bartender was too busy chatting with a guest at the bar all the time? after a little over 10 minutes I got up and went. This place was always busy and packed on playdays and service always used to be ingenious. Now it's just a sad shadow of his past? wanted to rate a star, but decided on 2 stars for the good memories!

Six of us stopped for dinner today after a round of golf. The restaurant was relatively empty (it was 8:40 when we arrived). We sat down and were immediately greeted and taken over our drinks orders (pants of beer and a few soden). Soon she came and took our dinner orders (we skipped apps) mostly burgers and a few grilled chicken sandwiches). At 9:20 we asked if our food would come soon, it should be every minute. At 9:30 we asked for our food again? I promise. Then she immediately moved to speak with an older couple in a nearby stand. She apparently knew her when she could chat for 10 minutes. I think the couple saw our impatient appearance and told her something because she came a few minutes later, and then another server brought our dinner. As expected, the food was cold, and the hair goes cold. We talked to her and she apologised and said she would bring more pumice to the table. One of us had added bacon to the chicken sandwich, the bacon was decided to pull it out of the sandwich. Although hungry, neither the other person nor I ate more than half of our chicken sandwich. The burgers seemed good, and we got hot frits for the table. One of the six had asked to leave the pickles from his burger (have them on the side); of course it did not happen. It is completely understandable to get this kind of service when you eat in the first time, especially given the lack of staff in these days. However, as the restaurant was not occupied more than 20%, this was inevitable. The food was best moderate (no reason to serve rancid bacon), made worse by sitting to wait to be brought out. We'll get another place next week.

Enjoying brunch for Easter 2022 with the Grits, Bacon and Egg Bowl Description is perfect: Soft scrambled eggs served over North Carolina cheese grottes, bacon and toast. All flavors in well tied, it was a nice light meal. Service and atmosphere were great.

Food was delicious. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Also, I got some cute photos and one with my fun waitress. The patio is a vibe. We're definitely coming back. I loved it. This was perfect for my birthday.

Our food and service were both very good! The hostess said they were short staffed and only had one cook and that it would take at least a half hour to get our food. We'll, it only took 15 minutes and our dinner was delicious! I got the blackened shrimp tacos with tater tots I love tater tots) and my wife got the build your own salad. Both our dinners we're great!. My wife's salad was hug and fresh! We also got an order of roasted brussel sprouts and they were also delicious. Ana, our server, was very nice and pleasant and did a great job taking care of us. Short staffed or not, everyone at Hickory Tavern worked very hard and did a great job!
