Bidra med feedbackI love Swaddee. I love Thai food and I've gone to a few places for Thai but Swaddee is one of my favorites. I always get Pad Thai when I get Thai food and idk what it is but every time I go to Swaddee, I just enjoy my food so much. Will be back soon!!!
This place doesn't look like much walking by and would have never given it a shot but my husband suggested it on a recommendation for date night. I'm glad we gave it a go. It's not terribly fancy on the inside but the food is good. They'll ask you one out of five how hot do you want it and because we do really like hot food (as in super hot Szechuan and Hatch Green Chile kind of hot) so we said four. I had to order a Thai tea to cool off my tongue after our food came so next time I'll go with a three. Service was fast and friendly.
Swaddee was decent. I had the red curry chicken lunch special $7.95) and tom kha gai soup $6.95). I got the order to go and it was packaged well, all ready to go when I came in to pick it up. The lunch special includes a generous portion of curry, a mound of white rice, salad, and a tiny little egg roll. The egg roll had a ton of wrapping with a small amount of filling. The rice was very slightly crunchy tasting in some parts. The red curry was lighter and a little sweeter tasting than other versions I've had and was watery. The salad had a peanut dressing on it which tasted decent. The tom kha gai was also a sizeable portion of soup, filled with chicken and vegetables. The soup was actually thicker than the curry, and had a strong sour flavor. Service was friendly and polite at the counter. I asked for both dishes 4 out of 5 in terms of spiciness but they turned out more like mild/medium say like 2-3 level to me. Overall they have good portions and friendly service but the food is about average.
Dinner was okay tonight, but I ordered their Appetizer Combination (2 Egg Rolls, 2 Thai Toasts, 2 Satays and 2 Wontons served with cucumber sauce, peanut sauce and sweet sour sauce) and I am not impressed at all. The chicken satay was dry, egg rolls are saggy and the wontons are sweet. It's more like a dessert per say. For this very reason, this restaurant just went down a star for me, because even a regular Thai Cuisine do not serve these kind of an appetizer combo. In the future, I will not be ordering their appetizers anymore. Truly dissatisfied!
It all started back in June 2016 when my wife and I had just conquered Humphreys up in Flag and needed a good place to get our grub on. We came across Swaddee Thai up there and loved the food so much we knew we had to check out the other location which was coincidentally right in our backyard. Fast forward and when it came to my wife's birthday, she requested Thai so we knew exactly where to go! The food was just as delicious as the location up north. The Pad Thai was just the right amount of spicy. The Tom Kah soup was downright heavenly (I could've gone for another bowl myself! . The service was fantastic and really homey--made you feel like you were in a Thai family's home kitchen! Needless to say, birthday dinner was a great success. Oh and I can't forget about that Thai iced tea! But I definitely recommend ordering it to be served with your main dishes, as it will be waaay too tempting to drink it all before your food arrives if they serve it first.
