Maa durga sweets, a pioneer bengali sweet shop in Chandigarh. I am quite surprised that how did i miss out reviewing this place! <br/ <br/ Its been said in my family that sweets of Maa durga has huge significance in my life, since my parents have distributed them at every milestone of my life, beginning from my birth to every birthday, from my first school admission to my every passing class, from my first college admission to my first job and it will go on up till my wedding sweets as per the plan! : <br/ <br/ But apart from what value it holds in my life, I would like to reflect on the popularity, quality and authenticity of its sweets.<br/ <br/ Serving pure khoya and paneer based sweets without any adulteration, we get it fresh and it is advised to finish it off before it loses freshness. <br/ <br/ The top favourite sweet is malai chap chamcham which has a base of kesar rasgulla and topped or sandwiched with fresh khoya. The chamcham is so popular that even a person who hates sweets would have it full (its very sweet though .<br/ <br/ My all time favorite is orange long chamcham which is coated with dry khoya and pierced with a slice of cashew on one edge. I can never get enough of it.<br/ <br/ Kheer kadam is another delight which is a small rasgulla coated with rice flour battered in condensed milk.<br/ <br/ I have seen people who love rasgullas but have to abstain from them because of diabetes, but then they wash it and eat it! For such people, there is Kancha golla which is a sweet made up of dried chenna and is less sweeter, it tastes as if it was once sweet but now drained off sugar!<br/ <br/ We do get the usual barfis and pedas here, but the authentic Bengali sweets like sandesh, rasbhari and chaps are glamorous enough. <br/ <br/ In case you wish to go through a huge variety of Bengali sweets, you must visit during early hours, because the stock doesn't last longer and by the end of day, we are left with not many options to choose from! <br/ <br/ While I wait for another milestone of my life to have another bite of Maa Durga sweets, Bengali sweet lovers must visit this place for fresh chhenna sweets! : P
This is an old sweet shop brand of sector 34 Chandigarh. Earlier it was in a small booth on front side of market but now they shifted to a bigger shop SCO. The quality of its sweets is very good and also priced lower than Sindhi Sweets and Gopal Sweets. The sponge rassgulla a popular Bengali dish is very good and they pack it well for pack and carry. Try their chum chum and Rajisthani dry laddoo too.
Like always the best quality sweets and the most courteous staff. I am a customer of this shop since very very long time and I have always found the quality of the sweets par excellence. Even after recent change in management and then change of location taste is still the same. With the festival season going to set in in a few days I hope they will be able to cater to the sweet tooth of all its customers in the same manner as they have been doing in the past.
Authentic Bengali sweets for sweet lovers. Recommending everyone to try out.
