This hidden gem is mostly frequented by locals and the food is very authentic. Their specialty is fish, but they serve equally great cold and grilled cuts. We shared a variety of grilled fish, including turbot (rombo) , laguna eel (bisato) and sardines (sarde). Extra fresh and grilled to perfection. Peas, asparagi, beans as sides. We drank a local light sparkling red called raboso. Excellent. Friendly service. Out of the beaten track, but worth the effort.
I have been to this restaurant a few times. I lived in Venice for two years, and my boyfriend (who has lived in Venice for 38 years brought us over by boat. It is a small hike up to the road from the canal, and then you cross the street and enter via a short walk through a garden. I have never noticed signage for the restaurant along the road (though there must be some way people find this place! But once you are there, you are in for a real treat. They have a huge wood-burning oven, and a wide variety of fish, fowl, and beef that they cook in the open oven. The vegetables are wonderful, be sure to order some. I've never had the pasta dishes, but looking at other tables, the portions seem huge. The food is relatively inexpensive compared to the prices you would pay eating a meal of similar quality in Venice proper. They have very nice open seating under the terrace so you can enjoy the adjacent gardens. Very casual atmosphere. You won't see many tourists there, it seems to be a place known to and enjoyed by locals. If you don't speak Italian, you might have a little difficulty; none of the times I was there did we have a server who spoke English, but you can usually find a way to communicate what you want. But worth learning a few key phrases before you go. In any case the food will not disappoint!
