The price of top, for the quality they sell. Service very efficient. Hope to eat there soon, when i get another N2 travel.
Warmfull environment. Enjoyed the rice with beans and smoked sausages. Very simple menu and physical space, with attentive and pleasant hosts.
Although this restaurant is recommended in several guides as a place to eat good basic typical portuguese food, I found that preparation is well below what I expected. Located just next to the A24 highway, near Castro Daire, this is a large restaurant with no atmosphere whatsoever with lack of light and a very basic decoration. The choice is quite small and based mainly on a beans rice either with smoked meat or with some fried vegetable pakura that is so course and thick that it looses all appeal very quickly. The rice is tasty but completely overcooked. I later discovered that they cook large quantities of it and it becomes more and more cooked until it gets to your table. Such a rice should be made fresh. Avoid if possible.
Portuguese/English family, we have frequented this restaurant on occasions for lunch and dinner. The 'plate of day ' typically provides a main meal, jug of wine, pud and a coffee for €7. This restaurant is subsidised by government to provide typical local cuisine and employment for local people. Today we ate duck rice and lombo (pork loin), both delicious. We had plenty of local wine, and aquadente digestive. For a family of 5 we paid €44 and ate like kings. Sadly had to dispute bill as charged separately for another plate of lombo, which should have been counted as 'a plate ' very apologetic staff. Very good food, watch the bill.
