La Pesceria - Castro

This was a great place for a casual evening dinner. Our party of seven order a variety of dishes that everyone shared. The fried squid was especially good. Service was very friendly and helpful. We are traveling with three little boys so being on a piazza was great. The boys could run around while the adults relaxed and enjoyed the scene.

Super well executed sea street food in a nice surroundings (old village of Castro). This restaurant is managed by a group of young people and offer a super well executed sea street food selection: fritture (deep fried calamars, shrimps, anchovies), crudi (row fish Gallipoli’s shrimps and oysters), mussels gratin and some marinated fish. If you like sea food prepared well but in a simple manner, and served in a nice atmosphere (but again very simply cooked, presented as street food, with paper napkins and basic cutler) , I recommend it especially at dinner time.

We have found this place by accident. We were walking around Castro late night and found it right on the Piazza in the centro historicity . It’s a place with plastic tables, plastic knives, forks , paper plates. You need to order in the paper and pay before they will serve you. The portions are small but tasty. It’s not to fancy but reasonable according to the cost . The wine is good , the service is invisible . But it was fun .
