Only one night in this place was enough for me. Despite a good quality hotel and a very pleasant staff... the owner, neither friendly nor welcoming, left me a very bad impression. This man should quickly retire and change region. He should never have worked at the hotel and especially not at the Gers... His customers are demanding and eternally unsatisfied and the gascon discoloring and unproductive (according to him) I complain about the curists who stay at home 3 weeks and especially his staff. He forgets who allowed him to live all these years!!! He will have to meditate on this small sentence: “Happiness never comes to those who do not appreciate everything they already have” For my part, my stay of rando on the GR of the countries of the region around Auch allowed me to meet, at random, in shops, historic sites or lodgings, very professional, competent and exceptionally useful people.
The restaurant has always served excellent food, but the new owner is taking it even further. One of our party wisely decided to order the soup, and no main course, as the soup was an entire turrinne of delicious broth with cabbage, white beans, carrots, and loads of duck meat. The other two of us had the St Pierre, a delicate white fish with buerre blanc and butter marvelous. The coup de grace was the chocolate mousse with Armagnac bliss. Service is excellent, and the owner stopped by each table to be sure everything was perfect.
As residents we naturally preferred to eat dinner at our host establishment. No booking made but arrived at the table at 8, we were one of the first to arrive. Menu ordered and starter arrived at 8:20. Unfortunately the Main course arrived at 10pm. Waitress said the chef had forgotten our order, sorry and walked away. My partner asked for a half bottle of wine as compensation, which was agreed, but definitely check the bill as they asked 5 times for the room number. The main course finally arrived and was horrible. Roast chicken which was dry, overcooked, tasteless virtually inedible Only the dessert to get through, chose fruit salad and at least it arrived before breakfast. As we are staying 3 nights it’s a shame we’ll take our custom to other restaurants the next 2 nights. How disappointing.
This lovely hotel restaurant serves fresh local cuisine. The manager hotel owner is attentive and kind. The food was excellent. Highly recommend.
